A Clowder of Cat Crochet

A coworker is expecting, so I wanted to craft something for her baby shower, but it needed to be gender-neutral. Luckily, my associate loves cats. And I love a theme!

The obvious start was a baby blanket. I chose rainbow colors, mostly because I already had the yarn lol (And who doesn’t love a stash buster project?!)

The afghan body is the cat stitch. This tutorial was easy to follow, and fun to work up!

It’s a cute pattern. If you look closely, you can see the little cat ears and paws

I also made some baby washcloths with a skein of variegated, soft cotton yarn in complimentary colors to the blanket.

My work friend has two cats, who are undoubtedly eager to meet their new roommate! I chose the colors for these amigurumi to match her pets. This pattern is adorable, and came together fairly quickly.

And here is my cat giving her opinion on them:

Finally, I wanted to gift something actually practical, but still on-theme, so I purchased this (already printed) onesie.

P.S. In her thank you note, Kaylee said she already put the blanket out on the rocking chair in their nursery  I’m so glad she loves it!

How fun to do a theme! I bet she loved that blanket! It will fit any decor and is not too baby-ish! I never heard of that stitch but it looks fun to do once you get the pattern going!

Thanks! The pattern is fun and easy to learn, and really customizable to whatever colors and stripe pattern you want (or have on hand)

And you’re right, I definitely wanted to keep it not too baby-ish so they can keep using it as the child grows older
