AIMR 's Adventures in Theater Costumes

The wrap party was casual, but I wore a red and black top with beads anyway. The buffet was great…huge shrimp with hot mango sauce, Thai lettuce wraps bar, fried rice…

“Actors are not animals”

“Have you seen them eat?”

Those were two lines in the play…and yeah, they ate like they hadn’t eaten in months! ha ha ha

I was there about three hours and talked to just about everyone!

I got one final picture of the director/producer, the lead actress, and the musical director. Awesome people!

And, this was a big surprise…I got a small bonus check! The musical was a hit!

I think the next play is Fiddler on the Roof!

Can’t wait to see the Fiddler costumes.

They’ve done the show several times over the years, so I am pretty sure most of the sewing will be alterations to fit the actors or repairs. In reality, the costumes in that show are really just a bunch of old clothes…

Maybe so but it’s a wonderful show!

Yes, it is! I am still excited to work in that one!

All of the shows I have worked on so far have been nominated in several categories for the 11th Annual Wilmington Theater Awards!

The costume designer I work with has been nominated in the Costume Design category for her work in Ragtime!

This is a huge red carpet event for our city…and I am going!

Ahhh!!! How exciting!!!

That is so cool! Will be fun to dress up and attend a fancy event, and it will be so exciting to find out if one of the shows you worked on wins an award.

I am still amazed at how large a theater community we have in a city of a little more than 111,000 people! Everyone supports each other, so it is a very friendly competition…every play and musical will probably win something…

I chatted up one of the selection committee members at the wrap party, not knowing who he was. I told him about my adventures with the costume designer. He then sat at the table I was at when she came to the party and chatted with our team for a while. Sometimes a bug in the right ear can make a difference as it can be “political”…

All three of the people in my above picture are also nominated in various categories!
