Black/White Midi Shirtdress

Ooh, that’s a fun idea. You could even make them reversible - pieced on one side and plain on the other.

I love historical fashion. So many good ideas went out the window in the last century.

Thank you!

That’s the name of our bar/arcade. I had that printed up for DH when we finished the remodel.

My eyes widened when I read that the dress took 4.5 yards of fabric. That bottom picture helped me gain a much better understanding of the how/why. I love the versatility of this dress - pair it with a red velvet & white furred belt (okay, I’m actually picturing a fleece scarf from the Dollar Tree, but I dressed up the description, lol. The truth is, if this were my dress, I’d try to take the easy route of using said scarf as a belt ) and maybe a brooch and boom, you’re ready for Christmas. Go with with a green/gold belt and St. Paddy’s Day here you come!

You really did a nice job on this. I really like your fabric choice and can definitely understand why you chose to buy more. I’m looking forward to seeing what else you make with your fabrics!

Thank you! Between the longer skirt and the long, full sleeves, it really did take a lot of fabric (it’s folded double in that picture and I think it’s only a 45" wide fabric). That’s a great idea - using a scarf as a belt! I have a lovely printed silk stole that would be perfect for St. Patrick’s Day and a black satin one, too.

This is the pattern for the pinafore I plan on making in that light grey fabric. But, that has to wait for me to get some flannel jammies sewn up for my boys. And, after that, I’ll probably tackle a pair of trousers…pants are so vexatious, which is why I’ve been fixated on skirts and dresses lately (avoiding the hard projects).
