For Christmas this year I decided to make art of my boyfriend’s mom for my boyfriend. She passed away last December and he had been her caretaker since he was 12. He always mentioned how much he liked photos of her from before she got sick, and I had a few on my phone from the funeral to use as reference. My boyfriend is the youngest of his siblings, and he’s the only one keeping it together after her passing. He asked for nothing for Christmas because he already had his gift, me, but I wanted to do something special for him. The necklace she’s wearing in the photos and artwork is a cameo locket with my boyfriend’s photo in it, I keep it in my jewelry box. 5x7 Watercolor and crayon.
