Camp Nerd Games - Summer 2026

Prompt: July, Borders
Team: Cabin Stargazers
Project Name: Lucky stars
Project Link: Lucky stars
Brief Description:

I have been wanting to try making these origami stars from this tutorial. They looked so easy .

They were easy kind of like plumbing repairs–the concept isn’t difficult, but the execution . . .

I originally tried the gold ones, using a vellum paper. Very difficult because the paper was stiff and brittle. Then I switched to printer paper, which was much easier. I still had quite a few failures. I believe there may be more experiments in my future.

Borders because, well, made of paper :slightly_smiling_face:

Brief Description:

A friend gave me this glass. I love the message but I didn’t like drinking out of it. I decided to make this little lamp. I originally intended to put the lucky stars (see above) in it but after trying many, many, many possibilities, I went with another idea.

Here’s a picture of the glass before embellishment:

ToysRUs because multicolored and just for fun.

I have a tendancy to shred handouts during meetings and leave behind little piles of these puffy stars and origami cranes. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

That sounds like very productive use of meeting time!

Project Name: floral magnet
Project Link:
Brief Description: i made this for Manders in the tic tac toe swap. I used my cookie cutter to make a backing out of mat board, to create stability for the magnet. Hopefully my partneseem r won’t stumble across this post, since I can’t seem to remember how to blur the pics.

For blurring, type [ spoiler] and [ /spoiler] around the stuff you want blurred (minus the spaces after the first brackets; I just did that to avoid actual blurring in this post ).

You can also auto-generate that coding by choosing “blur spoiler” from the menu here.

Thank you for the reminder! I had to type it in, since the + sign doesn’t show in my menu anymore for some reason.

Can you drag/scroll the toolbar to the left? I thought it had disappeared as well until geekgirl made me realize it was just cut off on the screen. Here’s my standard toolbar view; the extra menu is just offscreen:

(Or if you’re happy to just type in the coding, that’s obviously fine. I just got so excited when I discovered the menu was still there that I’m enthusiastic about sharing .)

Project Name: Jacket repair
Project Link: -
Brief Description: Cleaning out a closet this week I found my partner’s old jacket stashed away as too small and in need of repair. But it’s a really nice black wool jacket, and son said he’d be interested, so I sewed up the lining and replaced the zipper head. Good as new!

Hangin’ out at the LAZY river. (Okay, it’s a creek. But aren’t creeks basically just streams that are too lazy to be rivers?)

It was as ridiculous as you’d imagine;)

Brief Description: For the Arts & Crafts Club! I had an idea of using the cookie cutter as a frame for a cross stitch project. I had 18 Aida, which killed my eyes and I will never use again, but I like how my project came out. Toys’R’us because it’s multicoloured.
