That despite how popular automata are and the number of growing tutorials, it still took a good amount of internet sleuthing to find what I needed to get enough inspiration to prototype.
We’ve had two senders so the gallery is up!
Send-outs are tomorrow! Please remember to message me if you aren’t able to make that. I can’t wait to see the gallery!
I finished my last item yesterday and have been playing with it ever since. ![]()
I’m all done, just feeling panicy about how to send it. Kinda wish I was a millionaire so I could hire a white glove messenger.
100% here with you on that! I am praying my box to Estonia arrives safe and undamaged.
Try box within a box if it’s something really fragile. You package the item with suitable padding in the first box, then nestle that box inside a second box with padding all around it (torn up foam is awesome if you have it).
Same boat. Finished but now trying to figure how to package it. Ugh.
I had a wrist injury a few days ago that has my project way behind schedule. I’ll be sending late.

For those posting to the gallery, if you’d like to make an animated Gif of your swap items here are the steps I use:
- Upload a short vidoe to this free Adobe converter. You may need to sign in with a free Adobe account. https://www.adobe.com/express/feature/video/convert/video-to-gif
- Select quality (I prefer medium) and then click download. You can trim the video length before downloading. Try to keep your clip to 5 seconds or less if possible.
- Upload the gif you just created to this compression site and choose 2mb as the file size. That’s the max size for file uploads on LC. You can play with the compression settings to get something you’re happy with.
GIF Compressor to Target File Size
You can use that second site to convert your video rather than Adobe, but the Adobe interface is 1000 times easier.
