I made myself a coat from a vintage wool blanket and leftover cotton flannel from my Halloween fairy hat project. I used the cocoon wrap premise of construction, so it was very simple, and I just added the accents in red flannel.
It’s gorgeous! Bet it’s warm and super-cozy, too.
You’d never know it started its life as a blanket. It looks extra cozy.
Looks cozy and fun!
So cozy-looking! I especially love the pockets!
Thank you, everyone! It IS really cozy! Just in time for our first snow this week, too! I know it’s also pretty out-there, but truly, I was walking round Target yesterday and every woman I saw was wearing a butt-length black puffy coat of some variety or other and while I am passing no judgement on said garment or said women, I was quite happy to be a weirdo.
I spent the last couple of days looking for a new winter coat, and decided to keep my old one. There is nothing wrong with it, except that it is way too large since I lost a lot of weight 5-6 years ago.
In short, and trying to stay polite: I do NOT like any of the winter coats offered for sale at the moment. Not the 500 euro ones, not the 300 euro ones and not the the 50 euro ones. They are ugly, of poor quality and not practical at all, in my opinion.
I of course hope other people do like them.
We sure saw a lot of them walking by when we were in Gent today.
Try to imagine guys over six foot tall in mint green Michelin-man coats that reach down to their calves and have an oversized hood with an orange-grey plastic fur edge… Accompanied by women in similar coats in dirty orange, shiny grey or black, but cut in half, so only reaching their belly buttons…, lol. We saw lots of those and similar ones.
Anyhow, what I wanted to say is that your cocoon coat looks comfy and fun!
Congratulations! Your cozy coat is a FEATURED PROJECT!
