Well, I made a thing…it’s okay. I’m not sure I love it, so might be switching gears later this week. :upside_down_face:

Oh @Abbeeroad now I am so curious to see it, lol.

I’m actually making multiples with different themes, and one for myself, so we’ll all have the same thing. I sorta love the idea of us sharing this, makes me feel connected :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Ok, CHECK IN TIME:
What’s your favourite part of this time of year, end of summer moving into autumn? Don’t say Halloween! Even though that’s a fave shared by many it’s too easy :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

We live close to the Niagara escarpment and the Bruce Trail so when the leaves start to turn, it is simply incredible. The big guy and I lived in the interior of BC for a few years and while mountain towns are lovely and I appreciated snow on evergreens even into the deepest winter, I missed the fiery show of autumn golds and reds. Moving back here and then moving to this area was a joy, it’s wildly gorgeous to drive along the escarpment roads at just the right time of year. There are waterfalls, rock formations, and the leaves, the leaves… Solid WOW, really lifts my heart to witness the glorious nature.

I might still send it, so we’ll see…

The girls and I were just LOVING the crunchy leaves we walked through on the way home from school today. Even if it’s 80 here today and doesn’t feel very fall-y.

I don’t know that my favorite thing about this season is tangible. It’s a feeling I get when the weather cools. I’m not sure how to describe it…like back to school excitement mixed with nostalgia even though it’s currently happening?

That’s a perfect description of the feeling I get too. It’s like a squeeze of the heart, almost unbearably sad except for the joyful excitement mixed in with it. It’s like memories of past loved ones after the hurt lightens.

YES! Absolutely yes.

My favorite thing about cooler fall weather is getting to wear hoodies with a kangaroo pocket. I love that pocket. A hoodie without the pocket is a sad, sad thing. It’s extra storage, a convenient place to tuck my hands, a convenient hedgehog holding space…

Sadly, its still to warm in Texas for hoodies :sob::sob::sob:.

I totally know what you’re saying! Nostalgia feels like the perfect word for the feeling.

I love that our rainy season comes, the leaves changing and the cooler temps. Getting cozy with the pups and my husband. I love watching movies, the change of food that is available.

Fall is soup season in our house. We don’t get very cool temperatures in the fall, but the evenings are a bit chillier, so soup is always welcomed. Jim and I both make soups. This year, I told him I would bake more breads to eat with the soups to make more complete meals. A small salad, soup and homemade bread…what exciting lives we live!

We will also make a trip back North through the mountains of Virginia so I am hoping to see fall colors…our trees go from green to bare…I miss the fall leaves!

My favorite part of this time of the year are snuggly sweaters and slippers. I love being snuggly and warm instead of sweaty and hot.

@Abbeeroad I get that nostalgia excitement too. Fall reminds me so much of a fresh start even though things are starting to get darker and colder. I’m sure it’s just a product of so many years of new school years beginning for me when I was younger, but it still holds true.

@Tapestry What kind of temps will you see in actual winter where you live?

@AIMR Soup season! Yes! And for us at our house, CASSEROLES! Easy and delicious and they always make great leftovers.

My husband really doesn’t like casseroles…I think it reminds him too much of our early marriage years when we practically lived on tuna casserole! ha

I have been looking at different casseroles using potatoes or other foods besides pasta…and more with chicken or lean meats (no tuna!)…I actually love casseroles myself, especially if there is cheese involved!

That ending feeling for me is because another seasonal year is wrapping up. All the growth & productivity comes to harvest & the business of summer shifts to rest. It’s the beginning of a new phase & when I start having time for crafting again.
And yes, cosy sweaters, slippers, socks, snuggly blankets, yay!

I sent my final parcel to @kayrun just now. Is everyone good for sent out day this Monday?

I have one package left to do. I will probably need all the time, but should be good for a Monday send.

This is my least favourite time of the year, but there must be something I like

… My homemade soup.
… My collection of pink coats.
…cute knitted hats.

And of course Christmas

It’s so $%#&ing hot here in San Francisco - unusual weather for us, that I will buy the yummy treats on Saturday morning before sending. I will re-read the preferred choices of my partners so nothing melts during the delivery journey.
