What is a Dotee? First it is pronounced DOT-ee, named after the original maker. It’s okay to call them doe-tees because I think that’s how our brains read the word.

Dotees are small dolls with a loop for hanging and often a tail with dangly bits. They are about 2.5” to 4 inches tall. There is usually a face and they are often crafted around a theme or fandom. (Insert photos here)

I’ve never made a dotee, but maybe I should change that.

Dotees are so fun and simple, and varied. I just sent in my questionnaire.

Woo-hoo! Thank you! It’s been a crazy few weeks with work (as of last Friday, I had worked 20 days in a row without a break, so I absolutely checked out of the world for a while this week). I’m off to check the requirements and fill out my questionnaire! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :+1:

I just sent in my questionnaire! So excited. Waiting till April 11th for partners will be killer, but hopefully lots of people will get to sign up in that time. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :+1: :sparkling_heart:

I agree! I’m thinking of doing a couple prototypes just to get the hang of it.

I can’t get photos to load - so I was thinking I’d make one so I can post a pic!

Here’s the one I made back for C-Ster’s Dotee Swap in 2019! It feels much longer ago than that; but on the other hand, that was 5 years ago…

One of Lovecraft’s “Old Ones,” based on his written descriptions and the paintings in the book “Barlowe’s Guide to Extraterrestrials.”

The wings were detachable, and the tentacle/legs dangled from wire hooks. It was so fun!

If you look up Annette Kinn on Pinterest, she has a board with 600+ dotee and other small fabric dolls. It’s a lot and I’m not done looking at them. But SO MUCH INSPIRATION!

And duh, Susan/Not always Smmarrt. I have a wall of 40 dotees so no need to search for photos from 15 years ago.

Crane & Goyle, a 2-sided dotee
