I’d already decided to donate after the High Five Challenge is over. I’ll PM you.
Thank you!!
I have always loved your drawing style, and this is such a special set of illustrations! And, with the addition of the frog on the back, it’s swoon worthy!
Kirsten, how did you create your precise and lovely drawings? By hand and scanned in or with an image editing/design program?
All by hand. I started with a fairly loose drawing with a pencil. Then I overlaid my initial rough drawing with a thin, slightly translucent, smooth Japanese paper, and drew carefully in ink with my fine fountain pen. Doing it this way meant I didn’t have to erase any pencil marks and risk smudging or damaging the paper surface too much.
Then I scanned them. The only digital clean up was to turn the background pure white (they scanned very slightly greyish, which was a pain). I am not good at all with digital tools, it’s something I haven’t learned.
Oh, and the frog was a resized copy of another ink drawing I did a while ago (also redrawn/reinked by hand)
Wonderful! And I often have problems with scanned backgrounds being grayish also. I hate it! Sometimes, the cleanup is quick and simple, sometimes not. The Canon scanner I had had settings within the interface. I could adjust the background/size before saving. This HP all-in-one does not have those features.
Head over to the High Five Challenge and vote for your favorite entry by August 23!
Your drawings are so delicate and precise, this is a wonderful zine. When I read about the challenge, making a zine popped into my head as well! I was not able to even start it, so I am delighted someone else made one. Our styles would have been, um, very different😄
I’ll be messaging you❤️
Thank you so much! I hope you will have a go at making your own zine - I’d love to see what you make!!
Well now, you are very clever and this is glorious
Have I told you lately that I LOVE your artwork! I think a coloring zine is the epitome of lettuce craft! So adorable and well done!
Yay! I hope you have fun with it
I still have a few more copies, if anyone wants one. I am happy to mail anywhere!
Everything about this zine does such a good job capturing the warmth and wonderfulness of the LC community. I love everything about it!
This is such a cute zine!
I’m told I have an envelope waiting for me at home! It think it’s the LC Zine!! So excited.
I received mine!! I liked the mini Australia tour with the postage stamps as well. They’re going in my collection, obviously.
Yay!!
