Garden in a mug

I made this for the Trash to Treasure swap. I like how it turned out!

The mug came from a thrift store and I liked the vintage look of it.

I put a piece of floral foam inside and added the pink flowers. I made the well from a vial from contact lens solution. Then I tore tiny pieces of brown paper and glued them onto the vial. I painted it to make it look like it was made of stones. The lip of the well and the roof are also made from card stock. The bucket was made from the orange tip off a toy gun that was headed got the trash. I painted it with dark silver nail polish. Small pieces of foliage cut from larger bits made the rest of the garden, along with some moss and floral nail charms.

Detail of the well:

I wish I had taken progress pics!

Thanks for looking!

Thanks for sharing the details! You have a knack for “seeing” things as other things…the well finish is great and what a transformation from what would be trash!

Thank you!

I love it to bits! The details are fantastic and you upcycled so many things so cleverly! The overall look is just enchanting and no one would ever know any of it was upcycled.

I love my mug garden! I agree that the mug does have the perfect style for the project. It’s now situated on the shelf in my craft room, where I can admire it often. :heart_suit:
