Hello Friends. Some sad news today. One of our Lettuce Craft family, and a former member of the HPC has passed away. Nathan (NathanielM93 on Craftster and Roots here on LC), was a member for several terms, and was such a joy within this Craftalong. He was funny, compassionate, and kind. He evidently convinced his mom to join our community, and she shared the sad news today on the last project he posted here. Hobbit Hole Embroidery

For my partner in the Common Ground Swap I made my first big embroidery project, I actually enjoyed it a lot more then I thought I would. I picked a Gandalf quote: “I’m looking for someone to share in an adventure” because we are both readers and I felt that quote was fitting. The hobbit hole was an easy choice. Chapter 16: Through the Trapdoor August 31 - September 13
After finishing their exams, Harry realizes the suspicious coincidence in Hagrid wanting a dragon more than anything else, only to meet a stranger who had one to give him. The Trio ask Hagrid about the man who gave him Norbert, and Hagrid explains that the man kept his hood up so he never saw the man’s face. Hagrid lets slip that the way to get past Fluffy is to play him a bit of music, and the Trio realize he told the stranger the same thing. They attempt to go to Prof Dumbledore but are told that he has left for the Ministry. Deciding the risk of Voldemort getting the Philosopher’s Stone is greater than them losing House Points, they decide to go after it themselves under the Invisibility Cloak. Neville catches them, and Hermione is forced to use the Full Body-Bind Curse to incapacitate Neville.

They get to the Trapdoor & play Fluffy some music, before jumping down the hole, where they are caught by Devil’s Snare, before Hermione remembers how to drive it off. In the next room they catch a winged key to open the next door. In the next, Ron leads the Trio in a game of chess, and wins, though he sacrifices himself to the White Queen in order for Harry to win the game. Hermione figures out the next obstacle, a logic puzzle of Snape’s. There is enough potion to send one person through to the next chamber, and Harry takes it, while making Hermione take the potion to send her back to the previous room. He makes her promise to get help for Ron, and send a message to Dumbledore, while he plans to hold Snape off as long as possible. When he enters the next room, he is surprised to find the person there is not Snape.

For this challenge, please overcome an obstacle in a project. For example, if you’ve run out of the yarn you are using in an afghan, you could order some additional yarn online, and finish the piece. Or you could figure out a recipe substitution, test out an alternate method of construction, etc. In addition to the suggested prompt, you may always craft something inspired by a character, scene, or situation in that chapter, provided you note what specifically inspired you in your project submission.

Project Name & Page Link: Lime ice cream turned into ice cream mochi
Brief Description: I made some salmon with lime sauce before, but forgot to take a picture so I decided to do something else with limes. As the last lime project was dinner I decided to make something sweet this time, so ice cream it was, BUT I wasn’t happy with ice cream alone, so we turned it into mochi. One problem I realised is that I didn’t have the right kind of rice flour, with some changes in how I made the “skin” I was able to make a bunch of ice cream mochi. Personally I like the sweet and sour flavour combinations.

Brief Description: My co-workers and I started WFH in March when the US first started responding to Corona and tomorrow we will be having a socially-distant work group meeting. I knew that I wanted to make t-shirts to add a bit of levity and utilized left over light blue shirts (I purchased to make shirts for my team last year and never finished making them) and heat transfer vinyl to create these. There are 5 in total.

Right now I’m leaning towards setting up a Discord server specifically for the HPC. My husband set one up for our family communication after he dropped his FB, and we’ve found it easy to have virtual get-togethers, and play games. All without having to use anything owned by FB. Meanwhile, if you have an alternative app that you really like and are interested in having the group use, please let me know.

I voted- days of the week don’t make much difference for my availability but times do. If I can’t join in for all of a meet up i would definitely try for part of one at least.
