Class or Challenge Title: Charms
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Mended Sweatpants
Brief Description: Since there is no way to really hide the immense damage my DS2 inflicts on the knees of his pants, I figured I could at least make the mend pretty. He likes the embellishment and I did my best to minimize knots, leaving the pants almost as comfortable as they were originally.

Class or Challenge Title: Muggle Studies
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Magic Mandalorian Pillow Cases
Brief Description: I pulled up the tutorial for these pillow cases on my phone to reference as I worked. They are so wonderfully simple, though, and the results are always so cute. The Child and Mando don’t hurt, either.

Class or Challenge Title: House Unity
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Cardinal Bracken Cardigan
Brief Description: My DS1 requested his birthday sweater be this gorgeous Gryffindor (cardinal) red.

Class or Challenge Title: Detention - Repair
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Another Sweatpants Mend
Brief Description: A little boy can’t be running around in holey pants for long - a little hole soon becomes an unmendable one once he accidentally sticks his foot through it. One pair of torn pants has served to patch four others, this being one of them.

And, a day late, here is the progress of my Advanced Studies (QOV). The back of the quilt just needs a narrow border before I can make the quilt sandwich!

Easter break project dump incoming!

Class: Astronomy
House: Hufflepuff
Project: green soaker
I made some soakers to go under my houseplant pots, to soak up any extra liquid when I water them. I used doily patterns, knitted in cotton. This one was knit in the round from the middle - from the inside, out!

Class: DADA
House: Hufflepuff
Project: blue soaker
The picot edges are kinda spiky, no??

Class: Divination
House: Hufflepuff
Project: pleisosaur puppet
I drew out these - using a mix of bold and fine lines - onto cardboard and put them onto cane to use as stick puppets in a recent assembly with my class (about Mary Anning)

Class: Flying
House: Hufflepuff
Project: knitting gear collect and tidy up
SPEW: St Christopher’s Hospices
So, I went through my house with a fine tooth comb collecting up all my knitting stuff - DPNs, row counters… from all sorts of places (in the bottom of my laundry basket, inside a box of teabags…). I organised them all, including sorting all my stitch markers (hundreds, I reckon) back into their boxes! No before pic as stuff was literally everywhere and I couldnt find anything!! In the process I also organised a big box of equiptment to go to the Hospice shop (I’ll add some yarn too) to raise money - I’m not sure if this counts as SPEW or not so up to the Hogwarts leaders!

Class: HoM
House: Hufflepuff
Project: ichthyosaur
The puppets are each about a meter long, and I drew them in front of my class - i did the ichthyosaur first and when i first started, they DEFINITLY didn’t believe that I’d be able to do it😄

Those soakers are beautiful!

I usually only work on one big project at a time but I’m really in a rut with my current advanced studies (progress is sooooo slow and made slower because i don’t want to work on it!) - hence I’m gonna take a break to work on something else… so,
Advance studies proposal
(To run along side current one)
Project Name: turquoise cardi
House: Hufflepuff
Brief Description: turquoise cardi with smocked yoke, because ooooh how beautiful is this yarn

Cute dinosaurs, @Noodle! That yarn is divine!

Class or Challenge Title: Flying
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: German Chocolate cake
Brief Description: I am absolutely flying after finally christening my new stand mixer by making a cake and frosting from scratch for the first time ever! (Well, I’ve made Bundt cake from scratch, but never a layer cake and never frosting). My cakeday was yesterday, so I made myself a gluten free German Chocolate cake. I subbed King Arthur measure for measure GF flour.
Modifications: Used a cup of coffee instead of the cup boiling water that the recipe called for. Doubled the coconut and added an extra half cup of pecans for the filling because it was too liquidy.

Class or Challenge Title: Advanced Studies Update
House: Slytherin
I know it’s not Friday, but I have such a hard time finding time to post these days. I had the days off work on Friday, and I finally got the quilting done on my Autumn table topper! Going to try to get the binding sewn and attached today, since in using PTO time today.
Update: I cut, attached, and folded down the binding. She’s ready to be hand stitched on my next day off!

Class or Challenge Title: Apparition
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Quilt Mend
Brief Description: I patched a few little holes in my DH’s quilt. I cut circular patches, turned under the edges, and embroidered them to the quilt (stitching through all layers). I used an embroidery hoop to keep everything nice and snug.

Class or Challenge Title: Headmistress - April Showers to Rainbow
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Sunday Shawl
Brief Description: This mostly gray-skies shawl ends with a wide rainbow of lacy, textured stitches. I made this cotton shawl to wear on Easter Sunday, but it’s so soft and large, that I can see myself wearing it often.

~ COMPLETED ADVANCED STUDIES ~
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Fifteen Stars Quilt
Project Page Link: Fifteen Stars Quilt
Brief Description: I used a pattern by Wilma Moss to make this twin-sized quilt for a friend of mine. The stars are paper pieced, a new technique for me. The rest of the top was pretty straightforward. I decided to do a pieced back, as well, since I found a beautiful and patriotic fabric panel that begged to be used.

Beautiful topper, @CraftsUntold!

Challenge: Hermiones book club chapter 17
House: Hufflepuff
Project: several small bits
Each of these little jobs took like 10 mins a piece today, feels good to have got them crossed off the list! They are…

  • spray paint some charity shop photo frames ready to go up
  • remove & cut down the cute dividers from my old note book to fit into my new notebook, and remove the existing (ugly) ones. One of them now functions as the cover too
  • sew together the ends of the dog coat for my sister’s dog as its too small and so the velcro fastening doesn’t work
  • sew up a hole in the same sister’s top where the stitching had come away at the seam
  • trim down the plastic divider cut offs to go into the bookmark pot in my classroom

Class: potions
House: Hufflepuff
Project: colouring in
I brought my godchild the Heartstopper colouring book for their birthday, and this weekend when I was visiting they let me sit and colour while we chilled out watching TV. Highly recommend this graphic novel series for any YA fans - the show comes out on netflicks soon too

Class or Challenge Title: Detention - WIP
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Milky Way Landscape Embroidery
Brief Description: This piece has been in my WIP pile since the first Winter book swap. I started it to turn into an embroidered bookmark, and quickly realized I had made it too big. So, Geekgirl got another scene, and this one languished in a drawer. I picked it back up a few days ago and finished it up. It’ll go on my wall, next to the landscape embroidery piece that Geekgirl made me in that swap.

Ooo…I love that! I have been wanting to try that style of embroidery.

@tendstowardschaos beautiful colours on your shawl! I love the visible mending on your quilt too - did you manage to tension the thicknesses of a quilt in an ordinary embroidery ring, or is there a special type?

Challenge: Head’s Challenge April
House: Hufflepuff
Project: colour vocabulary banks

So, a trainee that I had before christmas brought in some colour vocabulary banks and I hate them (they are… just a list of things that colour, not proper colour words. No crimson or cyan, all ‘gerkin-green’ and ‘mocha-coloured.’ Ugh.). But my class love them. So I’ve made a replacement! I designed these on my tablet so they are digital files, I’ll print the two sides (1 side colour words, 1 side broader descriptions about colour such as vivid, dappled and harmonious) back to back so the kids can just grab a sheet if they want one while we are writing

Hey all, I am sorry for being MIA, March and this month have really been busy for me but I have been able to get some crafting done.

Challenge: Potions
House: Slytherin
Title: Postpartum Sitz Bath

I created a postpartum sitz bath for one of my clients,
Herbs included:
Lavender
Calendula
Chammomile
Comfrey
Yarrow
Sea Salt
I boiled some water in my electric teapot, while it was boiling, I stuffed some natural tea bags with the ingredients, I used two tea bags for all of the herbs. I placed it into a mason jar and poured the boiled distilled water over the tea bags and closed the lid. I allowed the herbs to brew overnight.
After brewing, I transferred the brew into a sitz bottle and placed 3 drops of rosemary essential oil in the brewed medicine before putting the lid on.

My client was very happy to receive this to assist with her healing after birth.

Title: Chunky Birthday Sweater
Pattern Easy Crochet Cropped Sweater - Free Pattern + Video | For The Frills

So I wanted to make a cute bday sweater for myself. It turned out to be a little too large but I still liked it. I used Bernat Softee Chunky Yarn colors Brass and Black. It took me about 3 weeks to work on it and I finished it right before I went out to dinner on my birthday.

That sweater looks awesome! I can’t believe you stitched it up so quickly!
