Sorry for the delay, guys! I was a bit under the weather yesterday. Our Iron Chef Challenge for May takes us to…

:canada: Canada - Poutine anyone? Or a Classic Canadian Caesar? Who can say no to a Nanaimo bar?

Class or Challenge Title: Alchemy
House: Hufflepluff
Project Name & Page Link: Small crocodile
Brief Description: This is a small crocodile knitted on 3 double pointed needles, which creates a triangle when knitting. This was a gift for my brother who is in the hospital at the moment, for his mental health. And he collects crocodiles/alligators, has done so since a kid, so I thought that he needed a friend when staying there.

Project Name & Page Link: Magic Pillowcase

Class or Challenge Title: Headmistress - May
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name & Page Link: Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Lactation Cookies
Brief Description: Something for a new mom… me! It seems I’m not making nearly enough breast milk, so I’ve been working with a lactation consultant on increasing my supply. As a ‘it might help, it might not, but it certainly can’t hurt’ move, I made these lactation cookies. They are packed with oats, brewer’s yeast, and flaxseed. I made the recipe nearly exactly as written, but I did replace half the all purpose flour with almond flour, replaced 1/4 of the butter with coconut oil, and the water with cashew milk. They are seriously delicious, and both my husband and in-laws can’t stop eating them, so even though it made a HUGE batch, I’ll be making more soon.

Class or Challenge Title: History of Magic
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name & Page Link: Sunshine & Rainbows Nursery
Brief Description: I thought I had posted this here in the HPC, but I just realized that in the lead up to Ada’s arrive, I actually hadn’t! I certainly had moments when I wasn’t sure it would ever be done, or at least ever be done in time. I’m so glad we managed to finish it for her. Sorry for the repetition, for all those who saw it before in its own project post.

@MistressJennie, I’m so glad you have support! Breastfeeding can be so challenging, especially in the beginning. I know my LCs were one of the only reasons I didn’t quit. Those cookies look delicious! Here’s another great recipe for cookies that I used to boost my supply (you can easily add in flax meal or yeast). It’s crazy how much food and water it takes to fuel your body while feeding a baby (or toddler!).

Since it’s Friday, I thought I’d share the progress on my other Advanced Studies project. I have all the borders on my 56 squares! I just have to sew them together to finish the quilt top. They’re pinned to my design wall, but majorly overlapped to get them to fit (it’s a queen-size quilt).

Thanks for the recipe link! I tried that one out this afternoon, adding in brewer’s yeast and replacing the egg with flaxseed. They’re delicious.

Class or Challenge Title: Arithmancy
House: Slytherin
Project Name & Page Link: Improv Creamy Chicken
Brief Description: Was craving something cheesy/creamy for dinner, so I went digging in my cupboard and freezer. Came up with chicken tenderloins, a can of artichoke hearts that were about to expire, a package of frozen spinach that was about to expire, frozen peas, cream cheese, a can of GF condensed cream of chicken soup, half a carton of chicken broth and Parm cheese.

I browned the chicken, then added the broth, soup can, and seasoning (cayenne pepper, paprika, onion powder, minced garlic, black pepper). Cooked the frozen veggies until they were almost done, then tossed them in. Drained, rinsed and chopped the artichoke hearts and added those. Let it all cook a few minutes then added the cream cheese and Parm. Simmered a bit more, and VIOLA. Tasty chicken.

I’m sure there are recipes for something similar online, but I winged this while the baby was sleeping.

BONUS, my husband won’t eat peas, so I was able to freeze a couple portions for emergency lunch, and I have leftovers for lunch later this week.

Brief Description: In an effort to use up the gemstone beads in my stash, I made seven elastic bracelets. The stones sparkle, shimmer, and catch the light, and hopefully give off some good vibrations, too.
