CLOSED: Harry Potter Craftalong - Yule 2020/21

Gah, I am so behind on posting! I have been looking at all the lovelies, and crafting, but somehow taking pictures and writing up is just one bridge too far. But I am going to do my best and post a couple projects a day until I get caught up. Better to get some of them in than to wait until I have the time/mental energy to do a project dump!

Class or Challenge Title: Arithmancy
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: Bunny Ami #2
Brief Description: This is the second of 3 bunny amigurumis that were my Xmas presents to my nieces this year. This one has already been mailed off.

Class or Challenge Title: DET - Stash #1
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: Bunny Ami #3
Brief Description: Last of bunnies for my nieces - all were 100% from stash, including safety eyes and embroidery floss for the face. This is actually from inherited yarn from my grandma, so I love the idea of making something for the next generation from that.

Challenge: 12 Trees— angel
House: Slytherin
Project Name: peanut butter balls
Project Description: I made those for my partner. She was craving something sweet and peanut buttery.

1/2 cup room temp butter
1/2 cup peanut butter
1tsp vanilla
3cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Blend together butter and peanut butter then add vanilla. Mix in you powdered sugar one cup at a time until you get a play dough consistency. This may take a little less or a little more powdered sugar. Melt you chocolate chips and roll your dough into 1/2 inch balls. Dip your balls into the melted chocolate and using a fork place them onto waxed paper. I like mine to be half covered and then drizzle chocolate over the tops.

Challenge: Hermione’s book club
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Deck the Halls with Teddy Cuddlestuff
Project Description: one of my go tos with art is watercolors. I made this third Christmas painting with Teddy Cuddlestuff with watercolor.

Class or Challenge Title: Trees - Garland
House: Slytherin :snake: :yarn:
Project Name & Page Link: Crochet Snowflake dishcloth
Brief Description: My Aunt loves snowflake stuff, so she gets a crochet snowflake dishcloth this year. This pattern, however, is so poorly written, it is ridiculous. I am by no means a novice crocheter, and rounds 3-4 just make absolutely no sense. I ended up fudging almost the entire washcloth going by the picture. Pattern linked, but not recommended.

Class or Challenge Title: Trees - Fake Snow
House: Slytherin :snake:
Project Name & Page Link: Orange and Clove pomander
Brief Description: I made this lovely pomander while I was stuck on hold with my insurance company yesterday! It smells so nice. I did a pentagram on one side, and a spiral on the other. I have another orange, so I might try one that has bits of the rind removed, like in the link.

Project Name & Page Link: GF Stollen
Brief Description: Took a risk and made GF stollen for the first time ever! Recipe link in the FO post. it had to be kept in the oven for a while, THEN in a cool place for a couple days to “mature”. Twice it followed the Icicle prompt. LOL.

Brief Description: I love to bake and any visitors (well, in normal years) always expect something baked to be offered

Hey Friends. I just wanted to stop in and assure everyone that I’m fine. The bombing in Nashville yesterday was downtown and we live in one of the suburbs. Thankfully no one was killed, and the biggest damage was to buildings and infrastructure rather than human beings. But since it did take out an AT&T building, internet is out here and much of TN, KY and a bit in surrounding states, so I might not be around much over the next few days.

OMG! I never even saw that pop up in my news feed! I’m glad you’re ok. Now I need to go google news…

Class or Challenge Title: Trees - Lights
House: Slytherin :snake: :sparkles:
Project Name & Page Link: Knitted lights inspired by Leila Raven
Brief Description: Saw this simple yet adorable thing on instagram earlier in the month, and had to do one for myself. Quite literally lights up the holiday. I’m going to keep it on my craft room desk all year round.

@CraftsUntold - wow, those knitted lights are amazing - I tried to crochet using a similar strand and gave up really quickly, I found them so difficult to manage!

@ErinAquaheart - those shortbread cookies look so tasty and so very cute. I would definitely nibble those adorable little ears off first

Bit of a project dump incoming, was planning to upload a few at a time, but Christmas took over!

Class or Challenge Title: Headmistress - Trees: Bells
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: Recipe - https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/classic_christmas_cake_04076
Brief Description: The cake was made back in mid-October and has been fed with brandy every weekend since. It was covered in marzipan a week before Christmas and iced 2 days before. The thing with fruit cake is that you never really know how it is going to taste until it is cut – apparently it tastes as good as it looks (I can’t stand fruit cake, so don’t know personally!)

Class or Challenge Title: Headmistress - Trees: Icicles
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: Recipe - https://theviewfromgreatisland.com/butter-pecan-shortbread/ (although I used almonds, not pecans)
Brief Description: This shortbread needs two different periods of heating – the butter needs to be melted at the start of the recipe and then baking once made. I have previously made this with pecans, which I loved, but this time I made it with almonds at hubby’s request. He prefers the almond version!
