Yes absolutely! I’ve only seen those in cartoons when people get stuck, but it looks really practical, especially because you can put away all the bedding in it as well.
I know you live in a fairly remote place, so I imagine you don’t have guests over all the time, but when people visit they might stay a while. This way you have a bed for them without having to sacrifice a whole room all the time.
I like the rest of the room too - did you use a special paint on the wall? And is that a Bosch print over the bed? I hope your guests don’t see it before bedtime, they might get nightmares!

@Immaculata I think you may be thinking of a classic Murphy bed (generically called a “wall bed”, which has a non-folding mattress that folds down in a cabinet that is attached to the wall. This is a cabinet bed, which is a free-standing piece of furniture with a tri-fold mattress.
And YES, we got it so we could save space when we don’t have guests, but still have a “real” bed for when we have a single guest or a couple that shares a bed. We still have a few air mattresses for when we have 2 or more that don’t share a bed.

Thank you! It was pretty fun working with the furniture maker to execute my ideas with his style and expertise. His non-murphy bed pieces definitely have a Japanese influence which informed the cleaner lines and less ornate surfaces of my cabinet bed. Ogling the veneers when visiting his workshop was a delight.

My brother used to be a landscaper before he became a truck driver. If he were younger, I swear he would still be doing landscaping. Anyway, he came over today and power washed my small stone patio, pathways, gutters, and back siding.
It took him 3 hours. The patio was covered in moss, weeds, bugs, dirt…Jim and I will do some minor repairs and fill the gaps with sand. For this year, I think a patio set with umbrella is all we are going to be able to get done. We need to concentrate on the front yard and grass this year.
But, we will be able to enjoy the patio through the fall anyway.

It will be nice, but I also plan to use it for some large paintings and macrame projects. I bought some drop cloths and hope the weather will be nice in the fall!

The carpet is being removed from my bedroom today and tomorrow, and it’s rough. But Aeris is supervising. My Mom has been replacing all of the carpet with vinyl planks (I would need to check the boxes to know the specifics), and it’s going to look so much better. My brother did the installation for the rest of the condo. My job is moving furniture out of the way, and wow, that’s a lot of work! I’ve spent the last week hauling things downstairs to keep everything out of the way and I almost wish I was a minimalist after all that

That’s a lot of work and does make you look at your things differently when you have to move every piece at the same time! I replaces all upstairs floors, mostly carpet, a few years ago with vinyl plank and we LOVE it. Looks nicer and is so pleasant to walk on. It withstands dog toenails and spills. Ours is cork-backed and so sound absorbant, too.
I am soooo close with the last 2 deck chairs! I just put the last coat of stain on all the slats, so starting tomorrow afternoon I’ll be able to start attaching them to the metal chair frames. I’m leaving town on Friday morning, so let’s see if I can get them done before I go! And I finished the prototype/first of the seat cushions for them today, too. I will not finish all six before I go, but that’s OK - the chairs are plenty comfortable with out them.
Annnnd I bought some rechargeable lights for both my craft space and the interior of the cabinet bed. The craft lab ones are installed! I set up my ironing board by this Expedit and do other things over there. Just by standing in front of it, I create a shadow, because the single overhead light is behind me. These are 4000K, so not the most pleasant light, but probably one of the most accurate I could get for selecting colors.
You mount a holder that has a screw-in magnetic sphere-on-a-post, then the light part has a concave magnet on the back making it very adjustable. They also have dimmers.
I got these in a darker color for the interior of the cabinet bed for reading lights, but used the adhesive pad they sent instead of using a screw for mounting those which require 24 hours before attaching the heavy parts, so no pics for now.

I am dirty. I am itchy. I just pulled a big sliver out from under Rob’s nail. All this mostly dead wood has to go to the yard waste depot. The pile is bigger than it looks.
Whoever decided to plant this many large growing trees in such a small yard was not considering their longterm health. There’s more to do but we’ve created more space, airflow & light.
Y’all keep up the good work! This stuff is hard. You ladies are amazing.

I am so tired of dealing with tradespeople. In recent months, due to medication issues, I’ve been even more tired than normal. During our renovation, the pavement leading to our front door was opened up to access pipes underneath it and it was not put back properly. The pavement was getting more and more uneven and I’d tripped a few times. We also have a large bush in our front yard that needed to be pruned, as it got so big that the window cleaning guy could no longer reach our windows. So we hired someone to repair the pavement, prune the bush and remove weeds. I was there 3/4 of the time he was at work, during the last bit Mr Imma was home. The guy never mentioned it getting more expensive, but he sent us an invoice today that’s literally more than twice as expensive as the estimate. I’m lucky I’ve got the estimate in writing and it explicitly mentions it’s a total cost and use of machinery is included.
If it was a bit more expensive, I’d have paid, because I don’t want this hassle. But this is just wild. He didn’t do a bad job but also not an amazing job - he didn’t remove all the branches I asked him to so there is still no place for the window cleaner’s ladder.
This is why I’m sooo done hiring people for jobs. It’s always more hassle than it’s worth. He didn’t know it but I gave him a smaller job to try him out. We also still need a path in the back garden. Definitely not going to be him.

The summer is winding down and TheMisterT has been planning the purchase of this year’s pellets for the pellet stove, which means that I suddenly had something like a deadline for adding more hardware cloth to the woodshed. Luckily, I had all the materials already (scored a big sale for the hardware cloth by happenstance earlier this year)! So last weekend, I banged it out while it was rainy. These are the 2 on the left side.
There were 4 additional cavaties between the studs that needed to be covered so squirrels wouldn’t next in between and nibble/scratch up the bags of pellets. The hardware cloth I got on sale is 1/4" vs the 1/2" I used last year, but since this is a shed, the savings was worth the lack of matching. I did have to evict a different sort of squatter, but it was still quite cool and they were slow, so it wasn’t especially fraught. For me, that is.

My sewing area shares a space with my husband’s WFH desk so I don’t have access to my sewing area most of the time when I want to sew. I did a bunch of measuring and I think we are going to move his desk to a different room and make the full room (about 8’x10’) into my sewing area.
Here was the original layout I did in 2020
We’re going to move his desk out (right side) and replace it with another bookshelf to give me more storage. I thought about keeping the table for extra flat space but what I’m really lacking is storage. So I’ll have space for 2 machines setup on the left, small cutting mat under the window in back then lots of storage on the right.
I’m excited!
