I Saw Mommy Kissing Skellie Claus - An Irreverent Ornament

While I had the Halloween and accessories dies out, I got the idea to make a skellie with a Santa hat ornament for our “Irreverent Tree.” I was probably inspired by recently seeing pics of my Dead as the Dickens ornament that I made last year.

I added some “cottontail” embossing powder to the band and ball on his hat. I also added about 5 layers of the back piece to help make him rigid enough to be fairly sturdy.

He was still pretty fragile at his spine between his ribcage and pelvis, so I decided to add a wire there and then went ahead and made it long enough to make a hanger at the top.

It’s sandwiched between layers of paper with a lot of glue. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I only just recently learned that it’s not just the layers of material (paper, wood, etc.) that add strength, but the dried adhesive. To get really solid adhesion, I clamped it while it dried which ended up giving me Operation Game vibes for some reason.
