LC Shawl-Along ~ Knitters & Crocheters Unite!

I made another shawl, it was fun to make.
Altered the finishing rows, added some previous rows and and changed stitches to use more yarn. SC to HDC and HDC to DC. Tried some, unpicked a few times untill I was satisfied.

Yarn: Whirl from Scheepjes
Pattern: Soulmof teh sea from Guy with the hook
Pattern on ravelry
Hook used: 3,5 mm

So beautiful! I love the open lace with the bands of more solid stitches…the edging is particularly lovely…and that color…wow!

Thanks Linda, I fell in love with the shape of the shawl, like the waves of the sea. I started with the whirl yarn cake and searched for a matching pattern. This was a fun project

That’s so pretty, wow! You’ll wear that a lot!!

I have been crocheting and frogging this yarn for at least 6 pattern attempts. I tried starting from red, starting from green, rectangle, semi circle and triangles. I’m beginning to think it does not want to amuse me as a “watermelon slice” shawl/wrap.

I’m sending it to time out until it can tell me what it wants to be.

I have four different yarns in time out…I usually only do 3 attempts…

I bet the granny virus shawl would make a watermelon…

There are a few more involved patterns that might be the thing for it, probably. My mission was supposed to be an easy no-brainer pattern with a quick-win feel. I’m junk at the end of the day when I get a chance to yarn it up so I’m on the look out for something I can almost do with my eyes closed. Because sometimes they are!

I might switch to just knitting a rectangle out of it and letting it go. But for now into the cabinet it goes!

I’m working with a no-brainer pattern but I love it because it is relaxing for me as we continue our house hunting saga. It is for a swap so I can’t show it, but I already have plans to find yarn for a couple of more as my go-to end of the day projects…I get it…just have to find what gets you in the zone.

I have tried 2 more patterns. I feel that this yarn and I are simply not compatible and so it has been moved to the give away bag. Off to seek its fortune elsewhere.

Next!

Yeah, sometimes it doesn’t work out the way you imagined. The yarn cake looks amazing but once you start working, it looks so different.

Did a quick search, here is my suggestion

Moonstar shawl

Looks pretty straight forward and maybe the watermelon effect does come out? Just my 2 cents, please ignore if you’re not interested.

That one looks like it would sit well over the shoulders.

Thanks!
I’m so over the watermelon yarn but I have 3 more gradient cakes that need patterns. Maybe one of them will enjoy being made into this. Watermelon is being gifted away. Maybe it will behave better for someone else haha

No worries! I can totally understand getting annoyed and wanting to get rid of the yarn.

It is pretty, I will never make this because I get bored quickly. I like my patterns a bit difficult or with lots of different stitches. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I love the look of the intricate designs but right now I am in a season of life that can’t support the brain power and focus required.

Maybe someday! :crossed_fingers:

Hugs :orange_heart: I can relate, when life is complicated, I only “crochet backwards’ as my family calls it.

I finally took some pictures of a couple of crochet items I made.

In January, I made a Virus pattern poncho. Of course, now it is too hot to wear, but here is my dress form modeling it. It’s not really that long…I just had the form lowered and took more of a downward shot. The sides come to my wrist and the front is mid-thigh.

I also finished another Virus pattern shawl using up some glitter yarn. No idea why I bought this green yarn as it is not a color I normally wear.

They are both lovely.

Pretty makes! And too hot to wear now, maybe, but you’re going to a chillier climate and they’ll be ready for Fall!
