March Swap ATCs

After so many years I finally joined the ongoing ATC swap.

Here’s what I made:

For @MamaRhi my favorite childhood cartoon character

It’s “Die Maus” from Germany’s most popular kids’ tv show. Check out this wikipedia entry to learn more about it.

Nature for @Nightlight

@LindyBlues got fun facts about the place where I live. She also took these pictures because I forgot to take pics before sending.

And finally a herb themed ATC for @sunnydawne

I’m definitely going to join the ATC swap again. I love the fact that you have so many prompts to pic from.

Thank you @jemimah, @AIMR, @Tapestry, @Manders, @gozer.

It is the oldest still active prison in Germany and the entrance building was built in the 18th century. The best part about this ATC was that @LindyBlues lives in a city that also has a prison that is mistaken for a castle.

lol Here is the old prison where we lived when my parents were alive in Carlisle, PA. I worked there for a year after college teaching English and Math to help prisoners get their GED. They built a newer, modern prison and now it is used as am administrative office. It is rumored to be haunted by ghosts and was featured on a TV show.

Wow, castle like prisons seem to be a lot more common than I thought.

This is our actual castle

@Nightlight thank you!

That looks impressive.

To complete the series here are some Wikipedia pictures from our prison.

It looks pretty from that direction but it is the prison with the highest security level in our state. So you don’t have to walk far to see a different angle and notice that it is not the castle:

lol I love it when art work takes us into other subjects like architecture and prisons! It does make me wonder who thought prisoners should be kept in lovely castles…

That really got me thinking…

I guess I found a possible answer for our prison. It was built in 1729. Back then it were the monarchs that ordered the construction and they probably turned to their trusted master builders. Those builders and architects (if that was already a term) never built for functionality alone but also to impress their employers. Today the state would most likely hire a civil engineering company to build it as functional as possible.

And yes, art is a wonderful conversation starter and I love the turns it sometimes takes.
