Midwest Meetup 2

Ok folks, let’s talk dates! I don’t have any firm plans that would impact the date of our Meetup, but I would say that the first 2 weeks of June, the pool isn’t very warm, and it wouldn’t be any fun to swim in.

Just so folks can understand how it works: We open the pool in mid-May, and for those first few weeks we need to keep brushing, vacuuming, and generally cleaning it to get the water nice and clear. After it’s clear, we can use the solar cover to help. We uncover the water during the day so the sunlight can help heat up the water, then cover it at night to retain that warmth in the dark. On a good sunny day it can go up 1-4 degrees, and if we cover it at night, we might lose 1-2 degrees, but not everything. So it’s kinda 3 steps forward, 1 step back. Over a couple weeks, it gets to a lovely 86-90 degrees; perfect for lounging.

I am open to us meeting during the 4th of July long weekend as people might have it off, but I also know many people might have long standing family traditions or plans.

What works for you guys?

I’ll try to make whatever dates are picked work.

Arizona was lovely this February! Fall in the mountains is pretty with the aspen trees. It’s alright in Denver, but summer runs into mid-September and in late October/early November there’s a big wind that comes through and strips the trees of leaves.

I’d be up for very late June or early to mid-July! Our town has stopped doing much for 4th of July celebrations so there’s not much holding me in one place.
