I like this one. Makes me think of some water ring damage I’ve done to wood or paper. Could be a fun way to both accent it and hide it with art! I will have to remember this

I think the composition is wonderful

Thanks, folks! I totally made it up as I went along, which isn’t always my strong suit, but I’m really liking it.

I love the idea of leaning into the water rings. That could be a really cool effect.

Prompt: November- Penny Bun
Team: Gingerbread Mayhem
Project Name: French Meat Pies
Project Link: n/a
Brief Description: My stepdad used to make the French meat pies around the holidays (often for Christmas Eve dinner). I’ve always loved French meat pie (we used to get it for school lunch when I was in elementary school- it was unexpectedly delicious!), and there was a store in town that used to sell them. But, after a fire, the store closed. These, however, are even better! I’ll be chilling these in the fridge overnight then slicing them up tomorrow so I can freeze the slices. After I have a slice for dinner tomorrow night, of course!

Sorry I’ve been absent again, I’m just going to stop saying that and assume everyone will know I’m slightly overwhelmed, but mostly irresponsible. But a little overwhelmed. Last week I helped my friend unpack (part of) her fabric stash. We got through 101 boxes/bins (these are medium sized boxes and large rubbermaid tubs, not small containers) in 4 days and filled 8 enormous shelving units.

…there are still 31 boxes to unpack. And she’s foisted at least 5 bins on me. I’m never going to have to buy fabric again!

Prompt: November Battle - Raw
Team: Resting Grinch Face
Project Name: Animal Crossing New Horizons Star
Project Link: Pattern Included!
Brief Description: One night while walking the dog we saw a shooting star, and hubby said “I made a wish, I expect to find a star fragment next to the bathtub in the morning”. Challenge Accepted! I couldn’t find a pattern I liked so I made one up. In ACNH, star fragments are used as raw ingredients in recipes!

December prompts will be up tomorrow when I get home from work. …and if anyone has any ideas, please feel free to message me, I’m still thinking frantically!

Prompt: Zap 3
Team: Raking and Entering
Project Name: Lit the Tree
Project Link: N/A
Brief Description: I have a love/hate relationship with putting up the Christmas tree. I enjoy the final result, but the process is a huge stressful hassle. This year, I knew I didn’t have the bandwidth to deal with it, so I did this, uh, light installation instead. In the dark, you can’t see the masking tape as much .
Project Photo(s):

Prompt: Zap 4
Team: Raking and Entering
Project Name: Ninja Brownies
Project Link: N/A
Brief Description: I’ve made Nigella Lawson’s Emergency Brownies quite a bit this year. Because I’m on a bit of a holiday zaniness kick (see Zap 3), tonight I dumped a bunch of stuff into the batter and cut the brownies out with my ninjabread men cookie cutters. (The first one completely disintegrated when I tried to lift him out warm. The second has a precarious arm situation but :crossed_fingers: he’ll be in one piece when I go back for him tomorrow.)

Prompt: Gift Wrap (December)
Team: Raking and Entering

Prompt: December - Gift Wrap
Team: Gingerbread Mayhem
Project Name: Huge polar bear
Project Link: More Polar Bear Fun!
Brief Description: I wanted to make a bigger version of the last two polar bears I made, but this yarn didn’t work well with that pattern. I bought Bernat Blanket yarn, and while soft and fluffy, it isn’t fuzzy enough. I ended up making a bear pattern I’ve made before. I’m pretty sure that the original bear made with worsted weight yarn is only as tall as the legs of this bear. It’s quite large!

It conceals polyfil… or also a bit of tummy and chin as I had to give a tummy tuck and tighten up some jowls. :joy: I also had to do some rhinoplasty as the first nose I embroidered on was in the wrong spot.

I love your tree. We did something similar when we were living in Phoenix. We didn’t have enough room for a real tree. Now that we live in South Carolina, we still have no room for a tree, and no room to put a tree made of lights like this on the wall. But I do have a wreath, so that works well enough for me.

Team: Raking and Entering
Project Name: Nana’s gnome

Team: Gingerbread Mayhem
Project Name: Storage Box from Plastic Milk Bottle
Project Link: Storage Box from Plastic Milk Bottle
Brief Description: I make yogurt every couple of weeks and the brand of milk I use comes in these white plastic bottles with an overwrap. Once the wrap is removed, the bottle underneath is a clean slate! So, I thought they’d be prefect to use for making little snap-top boxes. This is my prototype.

Prompt: December - Battle - Gift Bag
Team: Gingerbread Mayhem
Project Name: Jupiter kitty
Project Link:
Brief Description: I made this as a gift for one of my nieces. She loves space, and this was meant to be Jupiter. But as it looks nothing like Jupiter, I made it into a kitty, which she also loves. I went with gift bag because there is no way I’d try to wrap this.

The colors are very Jupiter-esque! The swirly cloud effect would be a challenge, so a Jupiter kitty is an ideal solution!
