These are animal-themed, and here are three facts about native honeycreepers in Hawaii:
-There once were at least 51 known species of honeycreeper (a group of bird species endemic to forests Hawai’i).
-Less than half of honeycreeper species remain in existence, due to habitat loss, climate change/avian malaria, non-native invasive species, and non-native predation.
-Many honeycreeper species evolved with the foods they eat, so some birds have beaks that are the same size and shape as the flowers they drink nectar from.
