Prompt: November Battle - Modern
Team: Gourd of the Rings
Project Name: Centerpiece
Project Link:
Brief Description: I went to a fall centerpiece “class” at a local flower shop (it was two minutes of instruction and then a free-for-all, which was truly perfect. I’ve already planned to attend another!). We got to pick all our own flowers. It was so fun that I briefly contemplated becoming a florist. I talked some sense into myself over a few hours, but I do look forward to maybe making it a more regular experience. :joy: I chose modern because while flowers are…ancient, commerical floristry is not.

I’ll be back in a couple weeks with ALL my other projects. Time has been slipping by so quickly!

I love the “scrappy” floral arrangements that are full of texture and color and a whole variety of flowers and plants! Lovely piece! The wispy pieces create a lot of movement.

lol I took floral arrangement as a fun elective in college in my last semester (I had so many credits to graduate that I took “off” the last semester with fun classes–indoor sports, floral arrangement, basket weaving, Russian literature!). I was the total opposite: I never wanted to be a florist! ha

This floral arrangement is gorgeous! This class sounds SO FUN!

I used to work at a place that made the floral arrangements you see at grocery stores and hardware stores etc. we had a prototype to work from and a set number of arrangements to make. It was actually pretty fun! Every now and again we had a prototype day where we would create our own arrangements and see if any of them got picked up by the retailers. We even got to keep them if they didn’t get chosen (which seems a little counter productive in retrospect). My mom still has one that I did- an arrangement of pansies and ivy in a small Grecian urn.

Project Name: 67th Day of School Shirt

Project Link: 67th Day of School Shirt

Brief Description: To celebrate our 67th day of school, and the continuing “6-7” phenomenon, the principal decided to embrace the whole 6-7 thing and invited staff to wear shirts sporting either a 6, 7, or a 67 in some fashion. I didn’t have much notice, but since I was born in 1967, I just had to make a new shirt, instead of simply wearing the one I made for Halloween. And, since it’s in our school colors, I can use it on more than one occasion!

Project Name: Brickle/Toffee Crisps

Brief Description: 2/3 of the way through making these Brickle Crisps I had to open a new bag of brickle…only to discover that I’d bought toffee pieces not brickle because Heath sells both. I persevered despite that obstacle and just labled one box as Brickle Crisps and the other as Toffee crisps.

Please excuse the project dump.

It’s been a really rough year and I haven’t had the energy or time to post, but I am making the time to do it now because I think it will help me get out of this funk this year has put me into…

Prompt: Ganesha
Team: Don’t Stop Beliefing
Project Name: Black and white ATC page
Project Link: Black and white ATC page
Brief Description: The obstacles this year were endless… someone has been either seriously injured or severely ill in my home non-stop since the beginning of May, myself included. Health care has been lacking in truly helping me get better… and so there have been a lot of obstacles I have had (and am still having) to overcome… one of the ways that I am tryin to do so is to take time to do something creative while waiting for endless appointments. This ATC page was entirely done at the various appointments I have had to go to since September. Doodling like this while sitting in waiting rooms helps me keep my mind off the potential for even more medical trauma. Thank you for reading this “downer” of a post. It helps to share.

I have so many projects completed but am struggling to fit them into prompts. I am going to see if I can figure it out tonight or else I might need some help! I can’t believe how many projects get posted here…I love seeing it all!

@LindyBlues I really love those black and white ATCs and definitely going to try those vegan pancakes. They seem very similar to the zucchini and corn fritters my grandma used to make! Yummy!
