Wow! My Nerd friends are off and running!!! I’d better get moving, or I’m going to be the lazy camper who gets dragged into the lake in my sleeping bag……

(For the record, I know you guys would never be so mean, but I was actually at a camp where that happened to one of my fellow campers. The really sad part was that she was such a sound sleeper that she didn’t even wake up until she hit the water….)

I know, right? I feel like I should hide my bras so y’all can’t put them in the freezer

Did I just very helpfully avoid more trauma by not going to camp? All these years I was feeling like I missed out on pivotal character development, but perhaps it would have been in a bad way. :joy:

The worst thing that happened to me at camp was getting stuck on the lake about ten feet from the dock. Another girl and I were in a row boat, and neither of us could figure out how to row

Prompt: July Battle - Seasoned Camper

Team: Cabin Finger Painters

Project Name: Campfire under the Moon crossstitch heart

Project Link:

Brief Description: I think many seasoned campers are able to build a fire. When I worked as a camp counselor, I was left alone one evening (basically with just a pack of matches) to build a fire for my cabin group while they were at an evening activity and WOW I LEARNED A LOT THAT EVENING.
This was tricky with the pastel colors, so I’m hoping it looks like something, haha.

The only trauma I had from camp was homesickness-based and not camp/camper-inflicted. I just read a lot .

Also, most of my camp trauma was more from the summer when I worked as a cabin counselor at an arts camp. It was so much fun, but hooo boy some things are less fun when you’re supposed to be the “adult” in the situation, HAHAHAHA

My only camp experience is from taking my daughter to girl scout camp. But I very much fall into the glamping area of camping. I want plumbing and a flushable toilet.

I’m a camp addict. I’ve camped out at least once a summer every year of my life, I went to sleep away camp for 6 years, then staffed for 3 more, then helped at my son’s scout camps. I love all of them!

Prompt: July Fun & Games
Team: Stargazers
Project Name: Cat tower fix
Project Link: -0-
Brief Description: My cats are rough on cat towers and scratchers. I keep buying more and more. I decided to try and fix a couple by re-sisal-ing the scratcher parts. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Just time consuming, and watch your fingers for hot glue burns! This required a lot of rope, for the ropes course of camp.
Project Photo(s):
before - ripped off what was left on it.

after - With the cat I am pet sitting, Pebbles.

Monkey has a cat tree that has carpeting on all surfaces. I think we may need to replace the carpeting with some rope on the post soon.

We had to put a heavy duty shelf bracket under the bed on top to help support his big butt. The bed base is only 13 inches, and he drapes over that. Despite being too big for his bed, he loves it.

I love that idea. The finished tree looks great! We have a heavy scratcher as well and I have to buy him large, sturdy scratching posts and those things aren’t cheap. Next time I’ll definitely give replacing the sisal a go! Where did you buy your replacement sisal and about how much did you need (length-wise)?
