Paper, Mixed Media, Art Journaling Craftalong 2025

Thank you!

Does anyone watch Sandi Hester’s videos on YouTube? Her style is different than mine but I’m just in love with her and her whole vibe. I love the joy and freeness she has in her process. Watching her videos is making me want to conquer my fears and finally try plein air.

I just listed a bunch of papery stuff (mostly playing-type cards) in Use It or Lose It, in case anyone doesn’t have enough ephemera .

That’s such a fun find!

Oh man! I have been tossing out the fortune cookies we get in our weekly take-out! I’ll start pulling the fortunes out of them! The cookies are normally pretty stale and no matter how many times I tell them not to put in condiments and cookies, they just do it.

I always take the cookies, extract the fortunes and throw the cookies away. But lately, the fortunes have been duds. I have stopped believing in them!

This is April’s Fodder School project.

There’s a trade set up but some people make decorated envelopes and more, so I’m not sure if I’ll join in.

The most fun part (for me) was coloring the hole reinforcements. Weird but true!

I’ve only kept the best ones, like:
If you’re still hungry, have another fortune cookie!
Ha!

In case you don’t have enough projects already, here’s a giant paper bag book!

Anybody want some Russian verb book pages?

The photo may be misleading re: size; they’re about 3.75 x 6 in.

Has anyone tried these Art Creations sketchbooks? They’re surprisingly good for the price and have a million pages. I’ve been using acrylics in them without gessoing the pages and they hold up great (some warping but that’s to be expected). Also don’t buy from Amazon, they’re so much cheaper at Blick.

Timely…

I’ve spent a fortune recently on a very small amount of art supplies. Reasoning that they are watercolours and so they don’t go off. And the crappy watercolours are really crappy, so I ended up being seduced by the good ones :heavy_dollar_sign::heavy_dollar_sign::heavy_dollar_sign::heavy_dollar_sign::heavy_dollar_sign:

And then I had to buy good paper, which in Spain seems about 40% cheaper than home, so I bought two blocks, paper also doesn’t go off, right?! But 60% of a lot, is still a very bigly lot.
