Q1 Swap ATCs

I made a handful of ATCs for swaps this winter/spring that I’m just now getting around to posting. (But the procrastination has worked out in my benefit, because site challenge!) Improv Art Quilt

I was lucky enough to team up with the wonderful @photojenn in the latest IYP Swap. She asked whether I would be interested in making her an art quilt. Well, I certainly was! I took inspiration from a piece on this blog from her Pinterest. [IMG_2588] It was a lot of fun playing around with different fabrics and colours. The Racing Cat's Pyjamas

I found this wonderful fabric in a local fabric store, and needed something awesome to make with it. What could be more awesome than pyjamas? [IMG_2464] The fabric has little cats in racing cars allover it, and “Cat’s Racing Club” signs, it’s too cute. Here’s a close up of the fabrics. A watercolour owl thank you

This is a painting I did a little while ago. I keep in touch with my MA fiction writing class. Our beloved, amazing teacher was finishing her job at the university, so she could write full time (yay for her! sad for the people who won’t get to study with her anymore). Just discovered another unposted project, so my third item is …

C2C Baby Blanket

Towards the end of 2021, it seemed like a number of LC members were making C2C blankets in varying sizes so I gave it a try myself and realized I never posted the finished project. [IMG_2163] It’s been hanging around my studio, not sure what my plan was for it. I have a new grandson but I made him a quilt and his other gramma and great-gramma both knit him blankets.

Turned twill towels in blues, grey, and magenta

Ever since @jemimah moved into her new house I knew I wanted to weave her some towels and was thrilled to get the chance for the IYP swap. Painted canvas journal

I made this painted canvas journal for @jemimah in the IYP swap. I was so excited to send that I forgot to take pictures so I’m using one of hers [IMG_0115] Here’s a pic of it closed. I reenforced the inside of the spine with tyvek to keep the holes for the elastic from expanding. [IMG_6632] This was really fun to make because I painted a larger piece or canvas then got to decide which part to rip out for the journal cover. Thanks for looking!

I’ll have to look through my photos for a third project.

I found a third project

Gelli printing over paper turned art

A couple months ago I did a long gelli printing session and loved how the over paper looked and decided to turn it into wall art! I made myself a little view finder to find the part I liked the most then wrapped it around an 8x8 canvas. [image] I love everything about this piece (the shapes, translucency of the layers, colors, asymmetry) and have been studying it to see what I can use in future art work.

Thanks for organizing this challenge, it was fun to look back through past projects and finally make some dedicated posts for them
