It’s an IKEA fabric from years ago. It was on sale, and I bought lots. It’s mostly gone now, because I’ve added it to so many crib quilts, either as sashing or as backing. I think was originally a Christmas fabric.
I’ve got one scrappy quilt top together, and a second scrappy project underway, but I can’t share pics because they are going to be surprises. It’s driving me batty!
Driving you batting? Ba dum chssss
I’ll see myself out. Lol
I love you.
This was a new Pinterest account to me. It’s a huge, sorted, resource of quilt inspiration. Might be of interest to some of you. Over 28k pins of mostly quilts
Thanks for shaing @edel. BTW, I thought of you this weekend. I attempted a simple paper pricing project. I couldn’t decide if you are an incredible genius or absolutely insane. How you made that Little Shop of Horrors jacket is beyond me. I wasted so much fabric before I could wrap my head around it. Admittedly, I didn’t read the instructions, just looked at pictures. Once I got it, it was okay, but not that great.
It’s actually hard to get your head around, I understand it, but repeatedly put the fabric on the wrong way, and that little shop of horrors one had hundreds of pieces!
Oh, wait until you see what I did. It’s so simple you will laugh your butt off.
I definitely won’t! Check out this book, it’s very good and it gives you details about how to make your own FPP patterns.
Not that I’ve actually made any of my own yet
I have to relearn paper piecing every time. My head just won’t retain the skill. I love the results and have drafted ny own patterns, done some pretty complex small pieces, and understand the concept… and then struggle with how to position the darned pieces of fabric.
I also don’t like using big pieces of fabric but want to be thrifty or use up scraps.
And I will still end up doing PP.
That was my big thing. I didnt want to waste fabric. I wanted to use the smaller scraps and ended up wasting so much more.
Quilt sandwiches are the worst sandwiches.
That is all!
Will we get a new BOM soon? Im going to mums place today, and we are planning on doing some sewing! She looks forward to make the BOM’s too, and asked me today about it.
I dont think we will have a problem founding something other to sew if the BOM will be delayed, and Im not stressing about it!
Hey everyone! Sorry I’m a week late. I’ll get the August prompt and BOM up tomorrow.
I finished my quilt over the weekend. It’s a Frankenstein of a beast. I watched some videos and realized I should have done that first. But it’s done, and I am happy. We are having a huge storm so I will get pics once things calm down and dry out. I am glad I started on this one because I learned so much. I have one more Polaroid quilt to finish for me, then my Halloween quilt, which I plan to follow a pattern for. I don’t want to mess up those fabrics.
Can’t wait to see it!
I got one of my ‘secret’ quilts pin-basted during nap time! I was literally 4 pins away from done, when I heard the kiddo start singing to herself. Considering there was a real doubt that she would fall asleep at all, I’m freakin thrilled to have gotten it all pinned.
I wish I could show it to you guys! It’s driving me nuts not to share it, as I’m really loving how it’s coming out.
Since I am so late in posting this info, the cut off for this month’s prompt and BOM will be at the end of the first week of September, rather than the typical end of this month.
For the rest of the year, our prompts will focus on various shapes.
For the shape prompts, the monthly shape needs to be highlighted. This can be done in a variety of ways. For example, if the shape is a square, you could make a square patchwork quilt. You could quilt a pattern that features squares. You could create a quilt block using square patterned fabric. Whatever you do, just have fun and make the monthly shape shine!

Quarter 3 Challenge
(July 1 - September 30)
Christmas in July (and August and September)!
This challenge is all about holiday crafting! Despite the name of the challenge, all holidays will apply. So, gather your fabric and thread and quilt something for a holiday. Whether it’s a wall hanging, a table runner, a throw quilt, or any other quilted good, so long as it’s holiday themed, it will work for this challenge!
Goal List:
Please share your third quarter goals with us. You can earn an entry into the prize drawing for every goal you share and complete this quarter!
Our neighbors across the street, who have a little girl Ada’s age, are having another little girl in October. We were invited to a “Big Sister Party” for big sister Mina. Then a few days later, we were told it’s actually a Big Sister Party/Baby Shower. We were told the focus of the party is supposed to be Mina, so I need to come up with a gift for her, but I can’t really show up to a baby shower without something for the baby. I want to bring a nice gift, but not spend much on them, so I dug through my stash and found 2 charm packs of the same animal themed fabrics that my mom sent me. I have enough squares to make a 7x9 block quilt.
I also found a chunk of solid pink, and 2 turquoise fat quarters that match. Now I’m trying to decide if I should do solid pink and turquoise blocks. Or if I should make 4-Patches out of the pink & turquoise. What do you guys think?
I also found 2 packs of matching jelly roll strips. So I could do some sort of alternate pattern, using those too, but I’m trying to whip up something up quickly. The jelly roll strips could also be used as borders and binding.
You have a much better eye for this, but if I wanted to finish it quickly, I’d go for solid blocks. I do love that animal fabric, especially the print on the left with the white background and the colourful leaves.
