Oh goodness! I hadn’t realized you never quilted that top I sent you! I’m pretty sure it was the first swap here on LC after Craftster shut down, AND was the very beginning of Covid, when everything was completely shut down and even the mail service was keeping packages for weeks. I’m so happy to see it all quilted up.

It’s so funny that both you, and @marionberries finished tops I made this week!

Those are all stunning @Edel ! The quilt for your friend is a bit different than what you usually make, but it’s lovely and I’m sure your your friend will love it.

I bit the bullet and joined the Dutch Modern Quilt Guild. I’ve been looking at that for literal years and I always thought I didn’t have the energy to join another group, but a lot of their activities and resources are online, I think it will be fun.

It was such a joy to work with, your work is always so precise, there are never any stretchy surprises! It got sidelined because during COVID I made nothing, apart from kits, my inspiration and creativity just went. Then at the end of COVID we moved house, and this one needed so so much renovation. Then when things were normalising, Brian had his stroke, finally life has opened up enough so I was able to look around and give the UFOs some attention. :kissing_heart:

I bought a used Bernina 1130 on recomendation from a long time quilter friend. I haven’t received it yet so we shall see. But I am looking forward to playing with a new/old machine. May the ease of sewing be in my future.

Excellent choice! Those old Bernina’s are workhorses - unfortunately even Bernina doesn’t make them like they used to. I’ve heard of two people who had Bernina’s less then 10 years old that just died and the chip inside was not replacable.

My friend had a 1960s Bernina and it also died recently, but that machine had served three generations of seamstresses, it had done it’s duty.

The woman I worked with in the theater will only buy Bernina…she has six! I loved sewing with her machines! There are some pretty cool features for everyday sewing…the one I liked the most was that you choose to have your needle down into the fabric when you stopped or up…both helpful! We never did anything too fancy, but just little things made sewing easier…I would definitely consider the Bernina, so I am interested in your opinion once you use it for a bit!

Oh, and she was also a prolific quilter!

My Pfaff did that and had some other nice features. I look forward to playing with the Bernina!

I think I rip out as many seams as I sew. Maybe I should do a lot of it for a while, get used to the backwards stupidness

I haven’t tried paper piecing yet, but I am planning on creating a ‘Maker’ mini quilt using these letters. I’m hoping to find that I either like, or at least don’t mind paper piecing :crossed_fingers:.
