@Reese52 You can use whatever supplies you need as long as this is a sculpture. If you have specific questions, feel free to PM me.

You can paint it an which way that works for you! It doesn’t need to be realistic. You can paint flowers on the side of a cow! You can use any abstract pattern or paint splatters too!

whispers I think I’m done. I just need to get pictures tomorrow and this little ____ ______ is ready to ship out Monday.

And here is a sneaky preview…what could I be making?

Oh it’s not going to be realistic at all. That would be a complete disaster. I’m going to pick a color palette that I think @photojenn will like and try for whimsical.

It’s a dragon! :joy::joy:

Whimsical is a great way to go!

This swap has been more challenging (in a good way) than I was expecting. I don’t know why I thought I’d instantly be great at it. :joy:

Checking in! This week has been extremely intense with data cleanup in spreadsheets at work, so looking at another computer screen after 5pm was physically painful.

I made a slightly different paperclay batch to continue on one sculpture, and have added more shaping! I’m going to use it for part of my second sculpture, just have to get an idea of whether this batch would like to be sculpted thickly and given more time to dry, or have more thinner coats with drying in-between. Naturally the new batch doesn’t like to stick to the old batch as well as I’d hoped, but we’ll see.

I love those colours! Can’t wait!

Also we’re in sync.. :eyes:.. I finished painting last night! Now need to figure out how to package and ship!

I painted a little last night and wasn’t happy with the color choice. I am pivoting to fix it.

Check In Question - Do you watch or listen to anything while sculpting/crafting? Of so, what?

Reminder, these are due April 13th. Three weeks. If you need drying time, etc., plan accordingly!

I’ve got what I hope is my final piece drying. I’m really nervous about cracking so I also made a backup and have both of them drying under a thin towel to slow down the drying.

I’ve really been having a lot of fun with this swap. I’ve been wanting to learn about sculpting so this swap has been the push I needed! If definitely see more sculpting in my future.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a matte varnish/sealer for air dry clay? The triple thick I have worked well on my test piece but is super glossy and I’d like to have a matte option.

When I’m crafting I alternate between not listening to anything, having an art/craft YouTube video or twitch stream playing, or listening to music. I have some YouTube channels that I save for when I’m in my studio because I don’t have to focus on them.

Yes, I usually watch any tips and tricks for airdry clay on youtube.

I tend to listen to a lot of audiobooks and podcasts. I really need to listen to more music, though. :upside_down_face:

I normally listen to Podcasts (Crime Junkie is my go-to) but this time I watch YouTube videos of air dry clay.

I like to listen to audiobooks or short stories. (Only ones I’ve already read though.)

I usually just listen to music but I was binging shows as I worked on my sculpture. Specifically, the summer I turned pretty, love story, and just started Pluribus !

Usually not, since for clay I’m in a shared studio where they require headphones if you want to music. I’m becoming a fan of videos while hand-sewing, though.

Sometimes I listen to audiobooks when I craft. Very rarely I listen to music. And sometimes nothing at all.

I’m so curious to see the sizes of all these sculptures. Folks should photo them with a banana for scale. I feel like the one I’m making is kind of chonky. I would have made it smaller but larger felt easier with paper mache.
