I need to make that box & get a fancy cutter (because that’s so cool) but everything else I can get at costco & he said the hardware store has lye. Now I’ll really feel ridiculous paying $8/bar ever again
Oh, also (from the comments):
Soap making golden rule:1+2+8 1 Lye+2 water+8 oils. I’ll check out recipes later, it’s his technique & confidence that made such an impression on me.
you guys are impressive. I thought I was clever buying glycerine soap in bulk and cutting it up myself. I don’t even melt it anymore, just hack it up with a kitchen knife.
Even plain glycerin soap is expensive here, I’m really wanting to DIY this.
For years I made my own laundry soap but it’s just not as good. Dishsoap has been illusive as well, however this recipe for liquid soap promises use for hands, body, & dishes so I might give it a try.
I’d want some kind of preservative for a product with such a high water content I think. Solid soaps have an advantage there, but then my hands get too dry…
I am going to risk it, we have been buying 10 litre containers of natural liquid hand soap that takes us at least 6 months to get through and it’s never gone off.
