A friend told me the origin of Summerween and I had to look it up. It is celebrated on June 22. Here’s what I found:
The concept comes from Gravity Falls Season 1, Episode 12, “Summerween”. In the show, the town of Gravity Falls loves Halloween so much they celebrate it twice a year—once on October 31st and once on June 22nd. Characters go trick-or-treating wearing costumes, but because pumpkins aren’t in season, they are forced to carve Jack-o’-melons out of watermelons

@Tapestry and @Wildblue, ditto! I can’t wait for this swap and definitely making inventory for my STS. Yay for summerween! As far as I’m concerned after the 4th of July, the next holiday (widely celebrated) is Halloween so, it’s all I can think about is for fall to hurry up already.

My office mate and I decided we will be decorating for summerween. So, whole I’ll be crafting for my partner, I will be crafting for my office and of course once I receive the goodies from my partner it’s going right into our office.

Yay partners! And extra bonus, I’ve never swapped with @chameleonhound before.
I had a very small Summerween party today. Party is a bit much, my family came to visit and I decided to decorate for the occasion. I enjoy childish things but my family members are proper adults who decided it was best not to comment on this weird stuff.
The showstopper, my jack-o’-melon with a citronella tealight inside. I really love it and it sat on the middle of the table all day. This was right after I carved it, but after having a burning candle inside it all day, the melon’s head is starting to get a bit burnt lol. I have never carved a pumpkin before, is that normal? It’s a small watermelon, so maybe the candle is a bit closer to the top than it would be if you carved a huge pumpkin.

ETA: the colours are a bit off because we’re in a heatwave and all the curtains are closed to keep the heat out.
