We picked up these two camping chairs at a yard sale years ago. I ripped off the wonky side tables and reworked the arm covers and pockets. Cleaned up the frames, and we have been using them for camping and outdoor events. So comfortable.
But the seats ripped. So, a quick fix is in order. The seats are fastened underneath with lacing. The little purple feet are to protect our porch floor.
That’s a clever way to do covers!
I ran into a rec recently for designating a sacrificial pair of thin storebought socks & just patching the others with the good bits. I haven’t tried it yet, but this may be a better option.
Ooh, that’s a good tip. I will have to try that. I have an old fitted sheet from which I cut the good parts in order to repair others. Same concept.
I have done that and it works. I don’t repair socks unless they’re handknit or expensive hiking socks, but I’ve done this exact trick for cotton tights. They can be a bit pricey so patching them makes sense.
It’s not really mending but I guess I’m preventing future mending. And very satisfying too.
6 months after purchased a serger I’m still finding new things to serge. Things I made way back when that I zig-zagged and now they’re fraying.
