A weird side note…a case is getting ready to go to court to see if a young woman who reads tarot cards at a local crystal shop is going to be charged for a misdemeanor. Apparently, there is an old law on the books in PA that makes readings, fortune telling and horoscope readings for money illegal! It is so ridiculous.

That is so PA to have some archaic law still in effect! Such an odd place. I’m from California and I’m constantly blown away by the differences. This story is going on my WTFudge list!

It’s even weirder because there is a Fortune Teller downtown that has been here since I was in college. I have no idea why she can do it…she is kind of a tourist attraction.

I have seen Tarot readers in PA doing private, paid events. Although laws are often upheld for some and not for others. There are a lot of old laws still in place in each state, but why would an officer waste the time enforcing them? They need to take up knitting instead maybe

I think the officers didn’t want to respond to this one, but someone complained or reported it. Maybe after this court case, they will start removing some of those old laws. Pa has tons of them!

Oh, that is good to know. Glad it was a complaint and not random enforcement of old, unknown laws! We could all be possibly breaking one of those. There could be one about too many art supplies, or women showing their ankles in public!
