To avoid arguments in our household, we implemented a system where each person gets to decide what we have for dinner, and what we watch for the evening, one night per week. There are 3 nights left over where we either vote, intentionally go screen free, or roll for what we are viewing. The system works pretty well. The kids have more agency, and everyone feels like they are heard. The hard part is remembering who’s turn it is (since we don’t go in the same order every week). That is where this tracker comes in. Each clothes pin has a name on it (or nothing, something, vote/roll). They are backwards in this picture for privacy reasons, but each person decorated their own name. We can either pick a clothespin to assign to a day at random, or track the days chosen/assigned by other means. I wood burned the days of the week into my wooden plank (for Nerd Games Summer Camp Craft Club), and then water colored it. It’s working well so far.

I wouldn’t say it is hard to do at all, probably hard to do well though. Getting consistent even lines is difficult (I haven’t mastered it). I am also constantly terrified I am going to burn myself (or the table I am working on).

That was my problem too…and the whole reason for this project.
