I have a yard or two of PUL (plain white) that I’ve been staring at blankly b/c it doesn’t fit in any of my fabric box categories, so happy to pass that on. (not sure if I still have any patterns to go with it, but I’ll check.)

Believe me, she will need a lot! You can also make some burp covers or bibs. Not that you don’t already have a lot of projects on your hands! ha ha

I keep trying to remember how much I had of everything when my kids were little. I definitely had quite a collection by the time the second was born but I was young and the only one of my friends with a baby when the first was born. I think I just did a whole lot of laundry…

It might be worth looking in mom fb groups and buy-nothings to see if there are any handmedowns to be found for low cost, too.

Yeah, it sounds like my daughter has a close eye on those where she is. She has found some great stuff so far, but no diapers so far.
I’ve been watching her baby registry as we get close to her baby shower and i have realized we have a lot of people in our family and friends who are just not into cloth diapering. My mom is also militantly against them for some reason.
But my daughter lives in a very pro natural parenting area so hopefully she’ll find some hand me downs as well.

When I cloth diapered it was similar- a lot of people are really not into it and it’s like they feel they’re giving the mom a hassle/chores (laundry) and won’t buy them. My mom was anti-cloth because she was momming before disposables were invented and they felt like a godsend. She had fabric/cloths in small glass jars of water as portable baby wipes and cloth diapers with safety pins when she first became a mom.

I just checked our old registry to refresh my memory and I had 30 prefold diapers in size 1 and size 2, 4 of the small diaper covers, and 8 of the larger one size covers. Also about 50 cloth wipes (double thickness flannel squares I sewed) and at least a dozen flannel burp cloths. I used water in a squeeze bottle with the wipes. I used the heck out of all of it, and still did laundry every other day.we still use the wipes and burp cloths… unfortunately mice got into the diapers when they were in storage after we finished with them.
I was also an outlier in cloth diapering, but people did buy us some from our registry. The prefolds I used were about $2.50 each. While it was a big initial outlay, it saved a bunch of money in the long run. We had a local baby store at the time that also offered diaper “seconds” at half off (with wonky seams and whatnot). I vastly preferred these things called boingos to safety pins for diaper fastening. Easier to put on a squirmy baby and no way to stab them (or yourself).
