So I couldn’t seem to stop myself this weekend and made another set of Yule ornaments. I love woodland animals so that’s the direction I went.
Again, these were made using crayon tinting. I drew the pattern onto the wood slices with a pencil, colored with my trusty Crayolas, ironed them with a clean piece of paper overlay, and then finished up the outlines with an oil based fine tip black marker. When I felt that everything was dry/cool, I used a paint on clear varnish to finish.
Side comment, the wood slices retains the iron heat for a bit, so if you need to add color, it’s super easy to fill in.
The trees are actually a mix of paint, crayon and a oil based paint pen. I’ve never been good at trees before, but I’m really happy with them on these ornaments. I had no idea what I was doing. Just went for it.
