I had all this 1 1/8" single fold bias tapes in long lengths sewn together also one side left from a project that didn’t go anywhere that I wanted out of my stash, but didn’t want to throw out or seam rip, so I decided to make bookmarks to give away.
I cut smaller pieces of fusible interfacing into 7/8" strips and ironed it in between the two prints of tape, then cut them into 6" lengths. I dug into my trim and notions stash for coordinating pieces to decorate the tops, then sewed the 3 remaining sides. Most of the trims and notions are from baggies at thrift stores and yard sales that had other stuff I wanted in it. So glad to put so much seam binding to use!
My plan is to deposit 10-11 into Little Free Libraries in the area. To keep them from falling out, getting covered with book, or otherwise being missed, I decided to make some little holders from printed cardstock that otherwise sits in my stash such as the scrapbook and journal tag pages that come in packs and pads.
I dig through my precut tags and stamped them with “BOOK-marks” then glued them to the little boxes. I stopped at six, in case they don’t work in every Little Free Library I find. If they do, then I’ll make a few more once these have been passed out.
I’ve made groups of 10 and 11 of a variety of the styles and filled the existing boxes. The rest of the bookmarks are under them in this little plastic bin that I’m going to keep in my car.
I’m excited to hunt down some local FLLs to deliver these to using their map and the few I already know of.
