ok, I took the plunge!
Hope some more folks will come along!

Made my first claim!

Woohoo! I did too. I made an origami piece today in anticipation.

@EclecticDreamer I deleted your comment since that was just the claims thread, but I’m sad that you don’t have enough time! Maybe if we do a round next year!!!

Well, friends, I’m heading to the beach Monday, so I think I’m done once I mail to Kwality.

Hope we can do this again when the timing is better for more folks to join!

Hey origami friends! I received from @kayrun

I have finished the origami I was working on. It’s not flat, so I haven’t mailed it yet.

Is that a paper cup? Man, I remember when I was a kid, my mom would make paper cups when we traveled anywhere so we could use them at various water fountains. My dad would fill them up for us because we were too little to reach the fountain (way before they made them child height…parents would have to hold their children up!).

Nice!

@kayrun Those little things are so cute! I love the cute little sharkey fish thing the best, but that cup is so cool!

Yes! I remember learning how to make them as a kid (and being so proud of making something useful).

Of course, I had to look up the instructions because I had totally forgotten over time.

What fun memories you have! One fond origami-connected memory I have is from my teaching days as an ESL teacher. Many of my students were Japanese and their moms didn’t know much English, but they agreed to come in and assist a classroom teacher by demonstrating how to do origami. The English-only students were so enthusiastic and the moms were so pleased! It was a great cross-cultural moment.

Glad it arrived safely @Manders !

And thx for commenting, @kwality570

For my 50th birthday, my mom made origami cranes out of dollar bills and put them in a box for me. I didn’t want to spend them, but I used them to leave as tips (just one or two with the rest in regular money!).

I will have to see if I have any of her supplies left!

What a fantastic birthday idea!

And cool that you passed them on as well!

Yes, find those supplies!

I received from @Kwality570 !

Thanks so much!

The bookmark is great (I’ve been trying to read the writing that’s on the piece of paper you used )

And the card with sweet note was the perfect happy mail, for sure!

Oh, and I will have to track down that wide washi tape as well as those postage stamps! Love them

Yay! I’m glad it arrived safely. The book I used was an old typewriter training manual book!
