The second one was for a work acquaintance. Who became a new great auntie and at the shower they made blocks. (I believe the vinyl blocks came from Etsy, and well. I have opinions. I’m not sure how well this will hold up to daily use, and I re heat pressed them ) Of course non sewers don’t know about seam allowances.so I had to try something to keep as much of the edges in tact. I added a 4 and three fourths square of batting and essentially appliqued it to a backing square. It adds a bit of extra dimension and didn’t take out as much of the writing as full quarter inch seams would have .
It was delivered over coffee on Friday and the client teared up. So that’s a win.
Two great quilts! THe pinwheel has such classic charm with the bonus of your great layout skills. It was so kind of you to take such care with the baby shower quilt squares.
Beautiful finishes, and bravo for persevering with a less-than-inspiring quilt for the shower - it is clearly made well and holds so much sentimentality for the receiver, so lovely.
This makes me want to get my room set up to do the flying geese quilt that’s been on my to-do list for about 2 years now. Maybe this will be the year lol.
I will forever be impressed by just how much you manage to get done! ‘Oh yeah, I was working on my one complicated quilt and managed to finish these two other quilts during that time period…’ - consistently astounding!
I love your solution on the baby quilt. Those borders do a great job of letting each block shine on its own.
Great job finishing off two WIPs while working on such a monster main project at the same time. I’m usually not a fan of pinwheel blocks (maybe I just dislike how thick the center comes out), but your full on scrappy ones really brought out the joy of that block. I love it!
