If you have been around any adolescent in the last several months, you may have encountered the (somewhat inexplicable) 6-7 phenomenon. My teaching team decided to embrace it and make basic shirts. The “core” teachers (Math, Science, ELA, Social Studies) were the sixes, and all of the support staff were the sevens (one person opted out, and another opted out of the photo). I scribbled on their faces because I didn’t check if they were okay with their faces being posted.
I set us up to use freezer paper stencils and we traced the numbers onto the freezer paper. Once we ironed them down, we sponged on paint (two people used Sharpies since I only bought white paint). They dried overnight in my classroom and were ready for us to wear on Halloween.
And, because we each only had 1 number, we didn’t have to hear “Six Seven!” all day!
I heard about a teacher who deliberately uses the 6-7 thing in a way that makes the kids cringe - like, “that is so 6-7 of you”… it makes the kids chill out some in his class. I think that’s hilarious! No kid wants some “old person” pretending to be cool by piggybacking on their gig… lol!
LOL! I have sort of embraced it, as much as it pains me to say it. It does seem to be fading a bit, which is nice, because it really is the most ridiculous thing!
