After my kids and I finished our first batch of watercolor postcards, we still needed a few more, so we set off to find another tutorial we liked (postcards are a fun low commitment way to try new things). We settled on this tutorial on youtube…but went a bit rogue again. I painted the one on the right, my son painted the one in the middle, and my daughter painted the one on the left. I like the kids’ birds better than mine…I think they have more personality. I can’t decide if the bids are super clumsy and covered in leaves because they crashed (would definitely be me if I was a bird), or if they are dressing up and wearing the leaves as a spiffy new outfit (would totally fit my kids).
What a fun thing to do with your kids! I love this!!! And they all look fantastic!
These ones are pretty darn cute too!
So adorable! And boring ol’ me just thought the birds were standing in front of houseplants!
As someone who has managed to kill 98% of all houseplants that have entered my house (there is one that is only mostly dead, and may yet be saved), that didn’t occur to me as a possibility . I can definitely see it…just not in our house…we’d need brown twigs and dead leaves for that here
.
Ha! I had assumed these plants were in the birds’ houses!
Love them!
So quirky and cute! I love that you do this with your kids. It’s such a great way to spend time together.
Congratulations! Your Bird In a Bush Watercolor Postcards are a Featured Project this week!
