I tend to buy a lot of hand-dyed/hand spun yarns because I like the colors. I usually have no idea what to make so I just save them for when a project inspiration hits me.
I saw this crochet hat pattern that used a ladder stitch. It was a new stitch for me. I tried at five yarns before settling on this Pearlescent Worsted in a colorway called “A Charm of Finches”. Believe me, doing foundation single stitch over 80 stitches 5 times was not fun at all!
I like the pattern a lot but next hat, I will find a spongier yarn. The single wrap hand spun doesn’t have a lot of give so the beanie is snug. I seriously thought about frogging it, but I can probably get it to stretch out with each wear. I do like the colors a lot.
I have one more full skein so a pair of hand warmers are next up.
