A Couple of Chookns and a House with Hen's Feet

I started off with a thin cardboard box, and played around with some watercolors.

I added a small bit of gesso and then watercolor ground, to see how the watercolors would interact with rhe foundation, and it wasn’t too bad, but WHOOPS THE PROPORTIONS.

I mean, I think my favorite part of chickens is their feet, so I tend to exaggerate them sometimes, but this was ridonkulous.

I also started a silly front-facing hen with just gesso, and the watercolors seemed to get all nice and blendy on her.

But I thought the first gal could use some new legs, and made a new pair that were quite a bit smaller… maybe too small this time.

And then I couldn’t let the original legs just sit there unused, so I ended up making Baba Yaga’s house too…

And I think they’re all happy now, but now I’m second guessing whether the first hen wants the huge original legs. Honestly, it might could go either way.

I love the Baba Yaga house!

The chickens are how I imagine dinosaurs would have looked like, birds with big legs. They are cute as well though!

I can’t decide which legs should go with which either! I think maybe the baba yaga house needs the big ones? But I do like the giant chicken legs on the chicken. I think she’s cute!! Great little paper dolls! I love the idea of painted paper dolls. They are lovely. The pose with the front-facing chicken kinda dancing made me smile.

All three are so fun! I love the giant chicken legs on the house but the little ones look good too.

This really made me laugh! The big chicken feet are the best! I have a slight fear of chickens (from my days at my aunt’s farm!) so seeing those huge legs on that chicken feels right to me!

The dancing chicken and the house are also great!

Ok, first omg I love all of this SO MUCH!

IMHO big legs on Baba House, wee legs are maybe for a freaky pixie, lol. Mz Chicken could do with something medium-ish.

You could publish a colouring book of these, mix-&-match cut-out style. They are so good.

These are lovely! Little jointed paper dolls are so much fun.

Clearly the big feet are just from dancing too much.

The big feet are hilariously great. These are all neat!

Those big chicken feet are pretty entertaining :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:. I am enjoying seeing your various paper dolls. What a fun way to upcycle what would’ve been trash!

Haha! I love these.
