I started off with a thin cardboard box, and played around with some watercolors.
I added a small bit of gesso and then watercolor ground, to see how the watercolors would interact with rhe foundation, and it wasn’t too bad, but WHOOPS THE PROPORTIONS.
I mean, I think my favorite part of chickens is their feet, so I tend to exaggerate them sometimes, but this was ridonkulous.
And I think they’re all happy now, but now I’m second guessing whether the first hen wants the huge original legs. Honestly, it might could go either way.
I can’t decide which legs should go with which either! I think maybe the baba yaga house needs the big ones? But I do like the giant chicken legs on the chicken. I think she’s cute!! Great little paper dolls! I love the idea of painted paper dolls. They are lovely. The pose with the front-facing chicken kinda dancing made me smile.
All three are so fun! I love the giant chicken legs on the house but the little ones look good too.

This really made me laugh! The big chicken feet are the best! I have a slight fear of chickens (from my days at my aunt’s farm!) so seeing those huge legs on that chicken feels right to me!
Eeep! Thanks, everyone! I think I might need to make one more set of legs that is medium size, give that set to the chicken, and then make another slightly smaller creature to fit the tiny legs, HAHAHA
