A Couple Watercolor Paintings That Were Gifts

These are watercolor paintings I did for each of my parents for holiday gifts. They’re on 11.7x16.5” Arches cold press paper.

“Caterpillar Party”
This is from a photo my mom took in her garden. She lives near Pismo Beach, California in the US and she grows a lot of monarch butterfly friendly plants so she has a TON of caterpillars in her garden.

“Tire Swing”
So, my art website is called Wildflowers and Tire Swings, because it’s a whole lot easier to spell than my entire name. A while back I gave my dad a drawing I’d made in ink and colored pencil of a thistle that he loved. Afterward he says “Now I just need a tire swing to go with it.” So I had to paint a tire swing. Though, this one kinda looks lonely.

Not a fan of caterpillars, but they look really nice! And that swing is wonderful! Well done!

Both paintings are gorgeous and so evocative. What lovely presents.

Beautiful!

I was lucky to have swimming holes with tire swings in my life…it is a memory that stays with you, so your painting evokes a lot of feelings of nostalgia…well done!

The tire swing painting is wonderful.
It looks almost exactly like a place near a river where SO and I used go for walks when we first met. Slanted tree with a tire and everything.
