A Mama and Her Child

I’ve had this idea, to make some type of sea animal swim under water in my head for a while and now I decided to make the idea come to life. I had a oval canvas that I had no idea what to do with and I thought that my idea would work perfectly.

Here it is:

I was going between sea turtles, dolphins, and manatees before going with manatees.

The one on the right, with the darker color, is the mama with the baby being on the left with the lighter color.

The water is a blue on the top and a green blue towards the bottom, to show that they are swimming under water.

I really enjoyed making this piece and it turned out really good.

You’ve really captured the chill bliss of floating manatees! And I think the oval canvas was, indeed, just right for this composition.
