I gutted a secondhand Clive Cussler book – sorry, Clive! – for the cover. (Don’t worry; I’m repurposing the pages, including in this journal.) The pages are mostly junk, though I have a few happy mail-type contributions from lovely folks here, etc. It’s four signatures of 6-7 pages apiece, bound into some kraftex using a long stitch. I think; whichever stitch is in-out all the way down and back up. Then I glued that contraption into the cover.
And because I wish I’d done this for my previous journal, a starting bulk shot. The cover doesn’t like to lay closed yet, so I’m providing a bit of resistance here just for a more accurate measurement.
Awesome! I just learned how to sew signatures into a repurposed book cover like this last night and made two journals! It was really exciting.
I’ve been “junk” journaling for awhile but in a sketchbook that was getting overly bulky. I think this type of journal option will solve that issue and it’s even more exciting because I can use paper I’d normally cut up for the designs as the actual pages.
