Last February, @LuckyDog adopted a sweet orange kitty named Peach. When I saw the pet portraits in the September 2025 issue of The World of Cross-Stitching, I knew I had to stitch the cat for him. I finally finished it in time for Valentine’s Day, so now I can post!
I used 16-count light green Aida cloth (which is quite the adjustment after working on 14-count! ), and she fit neatly into a 5”x7” frame matted down to 4”x6”. I love that pop of blue against her orange fur!
That is the cutest cross-stitch and so beautifully executed. The green aida cloth is a perfect backdrop! I especially love the pic of Peach next to her stitched counterpart.
I love the colors you used. This cat is ready for summer. I could see this hanging above Peach’s food bowl or favorite bed so she can dream about warmer times.
My sister has one of those majestic photo-paintings of her dog’s head with the lower part being King-like attire. It’s above her food and water bowl.
My friends put photos of mice and squirrels above their cat dishes.
Anywho, that is a wonderful project! I bet my nephew would love one of those for his baby (cat).
Wittychild did a fantastic job on the cross stitch. As well, she is able to get pictures of Peach when I can’t. Some cats love to have their picture taken, but with my little peach she turns away at the site of a camera or phone.
I really love the portrait @wittychild has created. So, now maybe I’ll need to do some looking into a pair of glasses for her.
Update: while wandering the mall this week, we found a pair of cat-sized sunglasses at Hallmark of all places. There was no doubt that we were buying them.
