A Study In Green

I made this frog painting for @Jemimah as part of the Positive Affirmations Swap.

But he actually started as a tiny quarter pan of paint. I bought a “create your own watercolors” kit and hadn’t had a chance to use it yet. This was the perfect opportunity! Because Kirsten loves frogs, I wanted a fresh green with hints of yellow and a subtle shimmer. I named the color “Jemimah’s Speckled Frog.”

When I finished the frog he just looked too plain so I created a reverse frame for him that mirrors his cute little bowtie. The watercolor is mounted on a small wooden panel, sealed with archival UV-resistant gloss, and then mounted on a second wood panel which has some hardware on the back to hang it. The finished piece is approximately 4"x5".
