A Tale of Two Mermaids

Late last year, for the wishlist swap, I claimed @Manders for some mermaid art. The piece I made started out well…and then it all went sideways. I tried to fix things but only made it worse. I was out of crafting time though so I sent what I had, cringing the whole time. I’m still embarrassed. I hate that piece. HATE IT.

Manders was kind and says she likes it but I’ve never quite forgiven myself for sending it (even if I did make something else I also sent which wasn’t awful).

Flash forward a few months and we agreed to do a private swap so this was my chance to redeem myself. To make some mermaid art I don’t want to light on fire or cut up for parts. And I discovered that I’m really not great at illustrative figures. I want to be, but they are a challenge. Still I finally ended up with something I’m happy with in the end.

Thank you, Amanda, for being such a good sport!

I do like this mermaid more. :purple_heart: The cuttlefish in the other painting was absolutely adorable though.

I love the progress shots! I love how happy this mermaid looks! Thank you for making her for me. :purple_heart:

I know the pain of sending something you’re less than happy with because of a swap deadline. Consider yourself beyond redeemed! She’s so cute and I love those jellyfish!

Thank you, @Abbeeroad, @wittychild, @MistressJennie!

@Manders - I’m so glad you like her! That cuttlefish was my fave part of that other painting.
