I’ve decided to start learning/practicing crochet MANY times in my life, and it never really stuck too long. I’ve bought many a crochet hook to only eventually give it away to someone else when I realized that crochet is not for me.
Until now.
I can confidently say the venom of the crochet sting is at least a little more potent this time.
I’m still a beginner beginner basic baby, but I’ve been playing around a lot, and my repetitive/practicing nature has me making a bunch of one thing before moving on.
I finally set aside time to learn a basic granny square! (I used this tutorial.) So, then with these four colors, I decided I needed to make all 24 possibilities of combination before I can move on.
And what to do with them? One option is a chicken stuffie! (This is actually a different set of squares from a slightly thinner weight yarn though)
I’ve also continued making little octopi while trying different yarns. (One of my favorites has been from MadeWithApril — so soft!)
And I also made several little honu/sea turtles. I don’t prefer having to sew a bunch of pieces together, so I ended up using this no-sew pattern for a tiny turtle, but there are so many adorable ones out there!
And most-recently, I’ve started trying to figure out a pattern for an 'i’iwi (endemic Hawaiian honeycreeper). I think I have a ways to go, but here’s my first little prototype!
GAH I can’t believe the bug finally caught me!
